Dettlaff is not dead theory
I don't believe he is dead, even if you choose the ending where he's suppose to die

first we don't really see Dettlaff being dead, Regis tells Geralt to leave the scene before Regis "kills" him, it's almost as if he didn't want Geralt to see what happens next, why is that ? and the cutscene ends without seeing what happens next other than Regis biting Dettlaff.

then Regis says Dettlaff is dead but is he ? where is the proof ? if Regis wanted to protect Detlaff he would want to make it seem like Dettlaff is dead

and u gotta consider what Regis said about his relationship with Dettlaff how they're basically blood brothers and how he owes Dettlaff his life. Regis doesn't simply kill his friends it doesn't fit his character, let alone someone with whom he has a bond that goes beyond being blood brothers and friends , which is the way he put it

I believe what really happened is Regis just incapacitated Dettlaff, kinda like low the Unseen Elder incapacited Regis, and he just hid Dettlaff somewhere. and making everyone think Dettlaff is dead was the whole point.

I think Dettlaff lies somewhere unconcious until Regis decides to wake him up, which by this Regis would've returned the favor owned to Dettlaff.. ....everything makes too much sense and fits too well.

I wouldn't be surprised if in the upcoming game both Regis and Dettlaff show up, maybe saving Geralt or Ciri like old times, and now Dettlaff is a much wiser person just like Regis is, no longer the naive emotional vampire who could get fooled by humans, and Regis having to give some explanations and apologies to Geralt for the deception. and now Dettlaff is a good guy and a true ally just like Regis

While I'm not entirely sure if Detlaff is dead, I can't see Regis deciding to fake Detlaff's death after Detlaff decided to kill Geralt. Look at Regis' face and hands during that scene; his face is bestial, and his hands have become claws. He's in full battle mode at that time, and he's risking death to protect Geralt.

Pay attention to Detlaff's mindset throughout the DLC; Regis tells Geralt that Detlaff sees the world entirely through a lens of black-and-white. For him, it's ALL extremes. If he thinks you've betrayed him, he automatically sees you as an enemy, and his attitude towards enemies is that they need to die. So Regis attacking him? Even though he did it to protect a friend, that act changed the dynamics between the two higher vampires. As much as Regis regrets it, they're enemies now.

I wouldn't be surprised either, if only because we already know they're disregarding previous games.
