I dont understand why patching is so slow
A 600mb patch is taking over an hour to patch on a fast m.2 SSD. That to me is absolutely mind-blowing. I could have downloaded the full game like 2 times during this time.

Is that a known issue, and if so, anyone knows a way to work around that in the future?

As expected, I've paused the buggy patching, uninstalled, and redownloaded in approx. 28minutes. This is unbelievable.

Prob a stupid question, but what's your internet speed? Might be a connection issue.

perhaps something wrong/unfinished with the last/current download/patch update.

click on steam settings then downloads then
clear download cache then clear cache

then steam verify game files again and hopefully the download/update will finish.

can always go to folder ...\steam\logs
and check file content_log.txt
lines with appid 292030 are for this game
might be an error msg or some indication of what is going on (or not going on)

I mean, the internet speed is very fine since, like i said on the followup comment, I downloaded it from scratch in less than 28 minutes.

Thank you, There wasnt any error message in there. I redownloaded it very fast after uninstalling. But, just in case, I cleared all the cache and next time that happens i'll try looking at what you suggested.

I reinstalled on my Steam Deck the other day and it took almost 5 hours whereas another, larger game, took barely 20 minutes. I'm not sure how Steam's infrastructure works on an advanced level but I do know that sometimes certain games just end up downloading incredibly slow for seemingly no reason, and it can also impact just patching as well. Witcher 3 might have gotten hit by that issue.

Yeah and the buggy stage of the whole installation thing was the one that only the disk drives were working, with no connection involved. I have a fast m.2 and that should never happen. It's just a bug or lack of optimization of some sort. Most of the time it just patches normally with no issues, but sometimes it goes like that, and I just found out that uninstalling immediately and re-downloading is best.
