"Roll" was useful in Witcher 2, and they nerfed it in Witcher 3. You now use "Dodge" as main damage avoidance ability in combat.
The fight then becomes kinda like brazilian Capoeira with swords, it looks and plays very good. You spam spacebar and attack enemies, that's the combat.
You do have like 200 hours put into the game though. I think you got your moneys worth even if you didn't like the combat as much.
Also, you seem to like the Assassins Creed games (most of them) and they are almost all the same in gameplay (except since Origins). So, what's the difference in your opinion?
Never even reached Skellige, dropped it like 10 times
This time I decided to finish the whole story + dlcs but the gameplay is killing me already in White Orchard, it's really bad and unpolished
Alot of good story games have average to bad or even not alot of combat (tactical RPG's). It's up to you if you wanna see the story unfold.
It's always hard to please everyone when creating games. Maybe it's just not your thing but saying it's overrated is a stretch.
So why are you torturing yourself then?
Gaming should be fun and you should enjoy it. Its pretty obvious that this game isnt for you and thats totally fine.
There are some mods out there which totally change the combat system and make it more immersive and challenging. But at this point, I wouldnt bother.
Just move on. Its not like there arent enough game out there.
I must play this one anyway, even through suffering
2 - The Witcher was never known for its fluidity of combat (anyone who's played the first 2 games knows that)
3 - Most people play these games for the story, the atmosphere, and the characters. The combat is secondary.
4 - If you think this is bad, you've clearly never played a Piranha Bytes game before xD
On a serious note tho, if combat is a deal-breaker for you: that's totally fine. To each their own. You're free to explore other fantasy games and see if you like them better.
People gave this 10/10 back then. In my opinion It was overated. i am not a fan of 3rd person combat and it can feel clunky. yet i think it was a solid game: 7/10, later with all fixes. 8/10 in my opinion.
But considering all woke crap, and bad games that got released in recent years i realize this game was actually a solid 23 out of 10! (no typo)
IT'S A GAME ABOUT MONSTER KILLING MACHINE - WITCHER! SWORD MASTER! THE COMBAT SHOULD BE AT THE TOP PRIORITIES ALONG SIDE WITH STORY AND CHARACTERS!
They failed hard in this one and my only hope is that Witcher 4 will be so much better in terms of gameplay and combat
Agreed, except that one about Witcher 4, you probably gonna be very dissapointed considering that developer team was replaced with, how should I say, less experienced developers.
W3 is really wooden and Janky.
Even Cyberpunk is janky and wooden.
I never could get on with Cyberpunk for some reason.
