Also, "Killing Monsters" and intro cinematic Geralt looked like ass.
But the main problem really is that she looks like Geralt. The Witcher brand has been associated with him so long that it feels like they figured the game wouldn't be successful unless it was still him in some way even though it's a different character now.
A Ciri spin off with her using her magic instead of being a Witcher would have made much more sense, but it wouldn't be "on brand".
You never judge a game by its cinematic. That's like Rule 1 of gaming.
This isn't an unpopular opinion competition, let's all relax now.
2 - To each their own, I guess. Never met a single person who thought the cinematic was bad until now. There's truly first time for everything, huh.
The entire point of cinematics are to market the game by telling the audience what the game is about. The entire point is to judge the upcoming game by it. Sure, often the marketing fibs the details (Cyberpunk), but the general art direction tends to be more or less consistent with the actual game.
Ciri was debeautified in the cinematic... as well as debuffed... as well as her character lore substantially rewritten... this is not Ciri, and if CDPR is doing this in their marketing, one can only assume a similar direction is taking place in the game development, and indeed the interviews point to as much.
My point about previous cinematics is that better technology was used to make better looking Geralts and better characters in general. Witcher 4 cinematic used better technology to make worse looking Ciri, and the change in voice actor is painfully not as feminine as it used to be.
This.
It's not unreasonable to assume that Ciri doesn't look like Ciri to people familiar with the TW3. Let's remove the question of whether she's attractive; she looks like a different person. Her facial and skull structure at many angles is just completely different than TW3 Ciri's model. When they go this route, it gives off uncanny valley energy because Ciri isn't a new character. We can only hope that the in-game model will resemble Ciri as we've grown to know her over many TW3 playthroughs.
If she looks like him, fights like him, has the same personality has him, it might as well be him.
I mean i guess we'll have to wait and see but that's the vibe i'm getting here.
No, the trailer is absolutely great, it's the best Witcher 3 trailer and one of the best trailers ever.
I'm saying Geralt's character model there looked different to how he looked in other trailers and in the game. They made him prettier in the final release than he was in that trailer, in which he looked worse - which probably was a purposeful design choice.
Hell, there are even mods that make him more similar to that trailer in game:

He almost looks like he's completely given up on trying to be a good guy. He's got that "I have no soul left and now only care about the coin" look. Anti-hero vibes.
