Where can I find Dark Essence?

I think they are on Night Raths but I cannot find any.

It`s sometimes bugged. On my first playthrough never found a single Dark Essence. But now they patched it.

Are there any Nightwraiths outside of quests? Like just hanging out in a field somewhere?

Between Duen Hen and Byways, near the lakeside. There's a place of power near an elven ruin. If you go there at night, you will have to fight a lot of normal wright. When you step to the ruin, a NightWright will spawn. Alas, as I know, you will need 2 Dark Essence, whereas 1 nightwrights only drop 1 dark essence. So, either command console and add the Dark Essence or Spawn a Nightwright, (lesser evil cheat).

I finished the game with around 150 hours in it. I found 1 bottle of dark essence.

I never went looking for it, but still the game does not have a great drop rate for some things. I had to have killed more night wraiths than 1 .. and I looted my kills.

I finally got a bottle of arachas venom ... during the final quest.

I never got a cave troll liver. Also never went looking, and did not kill trolls for the most part. I guess I should have, as I got the bad ending anyways. I guess being nice to trolls does not equal being nice to Ciri. lol! sigh.
