Radovid Vs. Emhyr
Hey guys,

(@SPOILERS AHEAD@)

So I just finished The Witcher 3 on ps4. One of my best gaming experiences in a very long time.

My ending was good to an extent, I think. Ciri lives and becomes a witcher and Geralt lives happily ever after with Triss in Kovir. Yennefer is somewhere up North if I'm not mistaken.

Well, what was not so good about my ending was damned King Radovid. Not only did he kill and impale Keira, but then invades Novigrad and the Northern Kingdoms! I helped Roche and Djikstra in the side quest to assassinate King Radovid but then broke Djikistra's leg when trying to free Phillipa.

What went wrong? Why was king Emhyr assassinated and why did King Radovid become supreme ruler in my ending? I hate him oh so much :(

You have to complete Reasons of State and A Deadly Plot to kill Radovid.
If Radovid lives, he automatically wins the war.
If Radovid dies and you side with Dijkstra, Dijkstra takes control of Novigrad.
If Radovid dies and you side with Roche, Emhyr takes Novigrad and wins the war.

If either Radovid or Dijkstra take Novigrad, Emhyr dies.

At least, that's my understanding of it, I'm almost done with the game but haven't quite got that far.

And honestly, I hate Radovid too, but I'd honestly be happier with your ending than one where Emhyr lives. Emhyr is so much worse if you're familiar with the lore.

Wow, my playthrough sounds very similar although ***spoilers*** on the side quest with Roche and Djikstra I ended up killing Radovid and then I had to kill Djikstra. In the end the Northern realms agreed to surrender to Nilfgaard but the Nilfgaardians basically decide to leave to take care of internal matters and The Northern Realms are left alone. So without looking at guides I'm not quite sure how things ended up the way they ended up for you. I think though that the basic thing to remember is not to trust Djikstra. Although it may have something to do with some other decision to how you went about the assassination attempt on Radovid.

There is a guide somewhere if you Google bad/good endings for The Witcher 3. You'd probably find the answer there.

Emhyr var Emreis
- 1 mistake, a thousand reason from hungry and unsatisfied noble to topple him from the throne.

Radovid the Stern
- 1000 mistake, and no one can objected to his madness as no kings and nobles had the guts and cunning to fight Nilfgaard. Many Strong Kings already dead by the Leto de Gulet aka Kingslayer. Radovid is necessary evil king to hold upper kingdom freedom.

This is really strange. I did start the quest to assassinate King Radovid. I helped find the shoemaker but that was the end of it. Any reason for that? There was no follow-up quest line that I was able to finish.

You need progress on your main quests(after Kaer Morhen) before you can pick up new quest on this.

its not weird, u missed 1 more quest to kill Radovid, its Reason of State, you can not break Dijkstra leg, you need to talk to him and Reason of State will start
