Gwent: stuck with Northern Realms
I'm stuck with the northern realm deck as I can't seem to accumulate enough standard unit cards to play any other faction. Is there any easier way to do this as opposed to hitting every merchant and barkeep I can find?

To my knowledge you just have to use the basic deck you start with and just visit a collection of merchants, blacksmiths, and innkeeps and other notable NPCs. Buy their cards and beat them in Gwent to get their choice reward card. The next easiest set to accumulate seems to be Nilfgaard Empire.

The Northern Realms deck is pretty unstoppable tbh. I'm playing second highest difficulty and have beaten most opponents with relative ease. If you talk to the Nilfgaardian (sp) nobleman at the palace in Vizima (you can fast travel back), he gives you the leader card Foltest the Siegemaster. This ability doubles your siege row, which is great for finishing games. Just keep buying cards wherever you can and playing people.

Any deck played right can be great, but all of them take work to get to the point that they're gonna win more than lose at first. Cards sold by merchants boost up the numbers in your deck a good deal because you'll get two or three for a given faction at least every time you find a merchant selling them, but matches is the way to get the best cards, and the only way to get the "unique" ones.

The quests are tough when you first find them, but buy a few better cards, win some more from random merchants etc and you'll have a chance. Get some of the quests done and things get a bit better. Keep going and you build up a great deck eventually. I've barely touched Skellige and I've got three of four decks pretty decently set out already.

Gwent has a slow start, but it gets better when you put the time in. It makes you take time and learn the tactics lol. I can see why it's a great mini game :)
