Does Witchers Kill every Monsters?

If i remember correctly you could choose whether to kill or not kill a dragon in W2. Why would a witcher not choose to kill it? To wait for a contract or something?

He doesen't seem to kill godlings either, as they are benevolent. Nor doplers. So not all monsters are monsters? And that is one of the reasons why they only kill the ones with contracts?

Not all that is labled a monster is evil. There is pretty much an entire play about that in the game.

Witchers don't kill sentient monsters, unless they have no choice.

So they don't normally kill dragons, godlings, trolls, etc.

Godlings and the like aren't really monsters as much as sapient races not unlike elves and dwarves, I think that's where witchers usually draw the line. That goes for dragons as well, they're intelligent beings capable of more rational thought and greater physical prowess than humans, so they would also count as a sapient race, unlike ghouls and drowners that just kill because it's what they do.

I think the rule of thumb is witchers kill conjunction monsters. The ones that's un-natural to the world. Dragon might be indigenous monster.

Well - Trolls (not the ones here, but in the game) are labled as monsters but they are actually very funny. There is an troll in the game that sings self-made "warsongs" that are pretty funny to listen at (yes - he/she/it, has more than one). Most people would run trough that part, but I actually take some time to listen.

That's not to say that trolls could not be dangerous (just "deceipher" what named troll has to say), but they are not agressive by nature. They only use an logic that not always work out that great for humans...

So - no, an Witcher does not kill every monster (human or otherwise).

Anyway, there's another good reason to don't kill that dragon in TW 2, Saesenthessis, because it is Saskia.

Most witchers try not to kill intelligent/sentient monsters, if those doesn't harm/kill anyone. That includes most dragons, succubus trolls etc. But if said monster crosses the line, thus kills someone, it's up to the witcher to kill it, or to give it a second chance.

I think killing every monster or not is a witcher choice and in a better world, he should have to face consequence when he kill a good monster.

When i play geralt, i always choose the most difficult path and try not to kill neutral/good monster or convert an evil monster to a good one.

Regarding dragon, i don't think there's something about not killing them in the witcher code. Witcher george (Saint george) was called the dragon slayer. And you can find a witcher book in the games explaining how to kill them.

I think it's more a geralt thing and his personnal code. He will never kill a sentient being if he can avoid it, he won't go after dragon because only a few of them are left and they have been heavily persecuted in the past.

Geralt is a neutral kind of guy and his world is not black and white but a world of grey.
That's probably why Geralt is one of the character i like the most in video games/books, his life is hard, like crazy hard and he still never choose the easy way out.

Why?

They don't hunt something that is almost extinct. In Geralt case, the dragon is too much of a bother. Many rules were invented by Geralt so that he don't need to deal with stuffs that is not worth it or too dangerous.
