Triss's injuries
I'm in the middle of no place like home when Lambert jokes about Triss's scars. I never noticed them. When and how did she get injured? Never read too much about the books so some insight on this would be appreciated.

Well, she sharded Geralts bed for some time... You will get some scaring or injuries wheter you like it or not. :)

Kidding aside she has been tortured more then once... (Depending on your choices both in this and the last game).

It had to have been from before since how could Lambert know if you let her get tortured this game or not. She only gets her nails torn out though if you let it happen. Lambert talks about some sort of scar she had though.

Hmm... Maybe if you don't go to help her in the second game instead help Saskia (or the other option witch I don't remeber)... Maybe it is something from the books...I've not read them.

Why does everyone seem to think the sorceresses are hiding behind illusions? They aren't illusions. They used magic to basically perform plastic surgery on themselves. This is why they're effectively immortal and retain their youth. They can alter any part of their body, slow or stop aging, etc. Yennifer was a hunchback. The operative word is was. The only reason we know she was a hunchback is because, much like the case with plastic surgery, using magic to fix your body is imperfect. Geralt, using attention to detail displayed solely by Witchers, noticed that her shoulders weren't completely straight and that her back was kind of janky. No one else would ever have noticed that. He also put together that the reason she is the way she is is because she was a freak once upon a time. He starts connecting the dots and bingo bango, she was a hunchback.

Triss probably has zero actual scars because she can heal her body at any time. Again, this is why she doesn't age, despite actually being over 100 years old. But as has been stated before, she still sees those scars in her mind, in much the same way a girl who was once ugly may not fully appreciate how beautiful she's become later on in life. It's all in her mind.

Well she was tortured in Loc Muinne in Witcher 2. But I have to wonder about any scars that sorceresses would get, wouldn't they just mask them with a spell? I mean most of them have some sort of deformity such as being a hunchback yet they all use magic to create illusions of themselves as raving beauties. I just can't see any one of them walking around with scars like Geralt's or Ciri's.
Yeah I wonder this too, further reading indicates that she recieved the scar after the Battle of Sodden which happened in the books. She also got some serious burns too. It's stated that they were so severed that even she couldn't heal them. Either she did eventually heal them, or the game decided not to portray her with those injuries. Btw no illusions are involved, they use there magic to physically alter themselves.

Yes I know about mage's appearance altering abilities. What I don't get is what happend to Triss's scar since in the books it's stated that the damage was somehow ireversable.

I know i am late with this but oh well:

Lambert asks "How are the scars she got at Sodden?" It turns out Triss suffered a major injury during that battle and had some pretty big scars on her chest/breasts. This is why (in the books at least) she does not wear any clothing with even a little bit of cleavage. But as TSYR119-A, pointed out, she might have concealed/healed them, but i am not sure. If Geralt would have answered that question, it would mean that he saw Triss naked, or at least topless, and that in front of Yennefer. Eskel immediately pointed out that it was not a funny question.

I hope this answers your question

She got her scars from the battle of Sodden where she was reported dead but survived at the price of multiple injuries and a long process of regeneration by magic.

Yennefer was also severely injured and became blind. She had to heal her eyes, a very long and painful process.

About her injuries from books (Blood of elves):

"They used the highest magics on us,' she continued in a muted voice, 'spells, elixirs, amulets
and artefacts. Nothing was left wanting for the wounded heroes of the Hill. We were cured,
patched up, our former appearances returned to us, our hair and sight restored. You can hardly
see the marks. But I will never wear a plunging neckline again, Geralt. Never."

So it maybe no scars, but mental trauma after she saw her mutilated body after Sodden and before healing. And she done with this trauma in the end of "Lady of the Lake".
