Sharpening High or Low?
Is it only me or I really don't like the High Sharpening? It looks so ugly. I think low is better than High lol
What setting are you playing now?

High is way too much. Low is good.

Low. Its a shame theres no medium. High is too much while low is a bit too soft looking for my liking. Somewhere in between would've been better.

For me Low!!

Well - high is only there because the "downgraders" wanted that high sharpening. The guy's at CDPR had removed the sharpning, because they found it to give too much strain to the eye. The "downgraders" disagreed with that and where very, very vocal. So CDPR decided to give in, and added the (in my opinion) useless setting. Probably this also has lessened the stability of the game, but hey - the consumer wanted it right?

use sweetfx if you want to adjust the sharpening to your own taste.

Wow... I see a lot of dislike here for the high value. Why? I use high & it makes the game look a lot more detailed. I couldn't imagine using the low value after seeing how crisp & detailed the high value gives. To each their own I guess. At least we do have the option to change it. ;)

They downgarded the graphics on latest patch so high it is now for me to, before patch 1.05 i used low, but high now looks better less blurry and fuzzy.

Low for me. High at 1440p looks far too sharp, doesn't feel "realistic".

I felt the same, but you get used to "high" rather quickly and then it's nice

Ah... Well maybe that is why some people don't like it. I am using 1080p & the high value looks better. Perhaps the higher screen resolution shows too many flaws with the high value.

At 4K and AA off, I can't have sharpening at low. It looks fuzzy. Maybe the higher resolution needs more sharpening to look crisp.

i think it depends on your monitor settings, i'm using high atm, but a week ago i used my tv as a monitor and the high setting caused severe "flickering" on the foliage etc whenever i moved the camera
Vellari Jun 13, 2015 @ 12:11pm
Propably so, ones monitor type plays a big role. For me, my display (Asus PB278) looks quite clear/sharp even with the setting turner completely off. On high it just overkills, especially foliage (grass, leaves) turn in to razor sharp objects. Doesn't look right.

Also, matters of taste to be honest.

Low is way better.
High looks bad on nearly everything thing except Geralt.
