Night is way too bright
for an rpg, I was kind of hoping to have to use torches at night (or cat potions). I'm wary of these lighting mods because they make the game look over bloomed and waaaaaay too sharpened.

Maybe they can add it in the Witcher 3: Enhanced Edition we all know is coming.

I find inside caves you can use torches and cat eyes. Outside the moon provide enough light. Besdies, Geralt can see very well in the dark. If you're picky, there's a mod already out that makes night really dark.

In Full Screen there's an option to adjust gamma. Was the first thing I did on the first night. It's default to 50% and I set mine somewhere between 32 - 34%. Perfect night time now. Manadatory light source.

Witchers already have extremely good night vision. Lower your gamma a bit to make those caves really dark.

If you don't have an "in game" gamma setting change to Full Screen.

indeed, easy fix. but hay, a lot more easy to just make a new thread then to just adjust the gamma.

Are you sure you're posting to the right thread?

Adjusting the gamma is a bandaid. I'd have to keep adjusting it back whenever it was day time.

Interesting, I never had to. ~35% makes day time actually look a lot nicer on my monitor (not so glaring and washed out). Well good luck.

Only if you go extreme. Just adjust it to where caves are dark. Witchers can see at night dude. Just like cats and deer can.

Yeah, I know that much. If that's actually the case, then why are some caves insanely dark, and why do they need cat potions?

Yeah I agree nights are a bit too bright.

Turning down gamma is not a solution so I've just been deeling with it.

I'll give you a lesson on eye sight. When you see something, you are actually only seeing the light reflected off that object. Out in the open where there is starlight and the moon, that is enough light reflected for cats and deer (and Witchers) to see enough. In a cave there is hardly any light at all. Deep in a cave there would be no light. So not even Witchers could see then.

I knew we only see light, but I was thinking of the reflecting light. Neat.

Witcher are mutated to see better in the dark.

Problem solved.

Well, I hope a mod can help you out and I'd be interested in one to do what you're asking for, too. For now the gamma adjust is working quite well for me and it may for you also if you can get it in the sweet spot [for your monitor].
