I have mine at 6144 because i have a Titan X.. plenty of Vram for everything~
Ninja Savior Jun 10, 2015 @ 2:52am
ok guys, but where are you getting those values from?
MrFrengLitch Jun 10, 2015 @ 2:55am
You usually want to keep atleast half of the Vram available for other stuff. So on a 4GB you could technically use 2GB for memorybudget.

If you go higher than half it will potentially make the game worst by stuttering and lagging a lot. 1536 is totally enough for this game though.

From several sites i see they always give it like, 1/4 - 1/5 of the actual Vram amount.. in Witcher 2 and 3 that is. 1024-1536 should be good for a 3-4GB VRam GPU. So the game can use enough for the other calculations.

Great, thanks for the reply. Can you point me to one of those sites?

anyone has tried higher values?
Vellari Jun 22, 2015 @ 6:59am
Out of curiosity, why do feel the need to tweak this? I have no issues with defaults.
MrFrengLitch Jun 22, 2015 @ 7:02am
Vellari - It reduces texture pop ins.

PlaymoBilbo - There's no harm in trying higher values, however if it is too high for your card, your game will stutter a lot.

I have a 4GB GTX 970. I set the MemoryBudget to 1024. It gave me the grass-disappearing-at-certain-camara-angle bug. Reverted back to 800 and it got fixed. Just so you know.

So far I don't see that increasing MemoryBudget gives any improvements. I have no stutter on Foilage? Grass and Shadows Distanse tweaked higher then Ultra.

Which file do we edit for that value? Where is it located?
MrFrengLitch Jun 22, 2015 @ 7:04am
Grass disappearing shouldn't be related to texturememorybudget.

And you can edit the value in the user.ini file.

My Docs -> The Witcher 3 -> user.ini

I tested it. I know what I'm talking about.

1- people are reporting better performance/smoothness with higher values. But some of them have crappy gpus and others own Titan Xs. I'd like to know hat can I do for my specific gpu
2- I have tweaked everything else, why not this?
