Do you fast travel everywhere?
You literally cannot play the game without the minimap enabled if you don't. You'll spend most of your time looking at the map than you do playing.
Not practical to most, but once set up it's quick. They really need to patch an option like this in though, the UI ruins some great screenshots.
Turning off the minimap in The Witcher III is not a bad idea, maybe I'll try it. But for now - I'm still at the start of the game - I sometimes use it to find herbs when I can't easily see them in the nearby vicinity (like in the forest at night, i.e.).
You've got a point. Personally I do use the map when I decide where to go next - most of the time, anyway. I like to see where the path that's dotted out on the mini map leads and how fart it goes, if it's worth walking by foot and if there are interesting sites that I might want to visit on the way but which will require me to take a small detour. So though I use a combination of the mini map and the map, I don't find it limiting. On the contrary, actually.
I can see what OP means, but I like to take advantage of all the tools made available in the game - at least for now.
It takes a bit of time though, for me it was worth it, but I understand that it can be hard for most.
Stupid location imo, something like that belongs to gameplay, not in a sub-menu of graphics....
Had a blast though, felt much more immersive, instead of have google maps open.

Check the Nexus from time to time, maybe somebody will release similar mod for W3.
Hide UI binding is needed indeed.
Thanks I didn't notice that option before!
Ah, can't wait for some UI mods!
And waste too many minutes looking for them.
Unnecessary torture is not recommended.
