How can I use items in my inventory?

I have my crossbow equipped but I can't use it. In the bottom left corner of my screen I can see my food and my potions but not my crossbow. I push the center mouse button but I'm not using my crossbow.

How can I use/throw bombs? I have them equipped, but I can't use/throw them. Same with Keira's lamp in Alexander's laboratory. I have her lamp equipped but don't know how to use it. This is getting very frustrating.

Not sure if you're using K&M or controller, but if K&M, hit Tab, then select the item you want to equip - bombs, crossbows, lamp... Can probably do it that way even if you use the controller, actually.

Once youve equipped it on the inventory panel then you use the tab menu where you select powers along the top but move the cursor down to the bottom to select between crossbow, grenades and a few usable quest items. once youve selected it its centre mouse button to fire or hold the centre button to aim.

Makes using bombs in fights a hassle on the K + mouse.

If I remember right, Left bumper or L1 to select your crossbow or bomb in the quick select menu.

If you're using your controller, you would press Right Bumper or R1, to fire the crossbow or throw bombs that you equip.

Also, I never saw this explained, but if you just tap the fire button, Geralt with automatically aim and shoot, and he usually hits whatever you want to hit. If you hold it down then you will aim it, and it's a pain sort of.
