The only thing Yen used from the Trials was the table and the decoction, but she used the old Aen Elle spell to break the curse. The same spell Avallac'h used on himself in order to turn himself into Uma and hide from the hunt. Despite being an Aen Elle elf and a mage, Avallac'h was lucky to survive at all. But that was enough for some very bad memories to resurface for Geralt, Eskel, Lambert and Vesemir.
Any surviving Witcher has suffered great losses, as majority of their peers didn't survive the trials. Humans and mages almost wiped them out completely and destroyed their schools, others were killed by the monsters they hunt. So during the events of Witcher 3, they are facing extinction. Naturally, they would be conflicted whether or not to put children through agony to save their legacy or just accept it.
Eskel and Geralt had a strong brother like bond and neither remember life before the trials. Geralt is one of few that completed all of the trials (same as Vesemir). That would make it easier for them to accept what they had become, unlike Lambert who still remembers. Even if it wasn't the most ideal life, Lambert has never been able to make peace with being "taken" from his life. Especially considering Lambert lost his 'brother' in the trials.
I would also imagine it would be different being the one going through the trials as opposed to being the one putting others through it. Vesemir is the only one alive whose done both and he's leaning more towards just accepting extinction.
Personally I don't think Eskel or Geralt would have what it takes to go through with it on unwilling participants. Perhaps if they were willing Lambert might feel differently about it, but who besides Ciri would honestly be crazy enough to want it?
