Ardes // Sérène :

Remembering when Yen returns Avalach back to his elve form, Lamber, Vesemir, Geralt and Eskel talk about that the success of it lead to have a big talk about the possibility of taking new apprentices to form them as witchers.

Plus, lore story about Geralt told us that being linked to magic as Geralt is by her mother is actually a good help to survive the trial of herbs, and even more.

So, having Ciri as a protagonist and having her done through a trials of herbs... if we look at lore... well.. it's plausible. We just have to see how the writers will explain it, her choices, motives, etc.

The game's gonna take away her elder blood powers. Can't have a gritty grimdark RPG about a teleport-spamming god whose feet don't touch the ground. Her mechanicsin tw3 would not have scaled up to a full game.

Considering years went by it could be the potions were made less lethal just like how modern medicine progresses.
