Petition to save the Witcher 4
I am starting a thread as to why this ship needs to be corrected before it sails into a storm where it will never be recovered. CDPR is an EXCEPTIONAL company that has made 2 of the best story driven games the industry has ever seen. This company rose to renown in only the past nine years alone where they were surrounded by like minded individuals who had a talent, drive and passion to create true art that elevated the media. They all worked as one, looking in the same direction. Witcher 3 kicked the doors down back in 2014 and became a household name, spawning multiple TV shows, and bringing millions to the world of Geralt.

The Witcher 3 needs no EPILOGUE, it does not need to have returning characters, or anything that was seen previously. This is a fiction that is RICH in lore, and having that whole fiction be centered around characters whose story arcs have been completed, is unnecessary. Why allow us to have these shallow backstories in CP2077 and have no intention on expanding, or improving it in your next project?

The Witcher 4 should be a brand new take on the world. We should have our own characters with fresh stories which are disconnected from the many adventures of Geralt and Ciri.

Thoughts below

Save Witcher 4… from what, exactly?

We haven’t seen a single shred of live gameplay. We haven’t seen a single shred of the narrative. We haven’t even seen the f***ing main menu for F’s sake.

So why the F does it need “saving” and more pertinently, what does it need “saving” from? No matter what they do, people are going to push back (because complaining is what Steam forum users do best).

Play as Geralt.
“Geralt retired at the end of TW3. It’s clear you’re lacking creative and writing talent so you’re bringing back Geralt to simply milk the franchise.”

Make your own Witcher and play as them.
“Who the heck is this? Where is Geralt, Yen, Triss, Ciri and everyone else??? Why would you ditch your already established and fan-beloved cast of characters for a random, nameless Witcher? Are you even trying to make games for your fans anymore?!”

Play as Ciri.

You're right about everything, but cdpr won't suddenly change things in an actively developed game just because we disagree with them

Save from what? CDPR make Witcher games since 2007 and only done this franchise justice. Vocal minority were ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on CP2077 all the time before release because it wasn't 3rd person rpg, yet despite technical state game turn out to be one of strongest story driven games in past 10 year. Story and characters is why cdpr games are so beloved, i see no reason to doubt them this time, let them cook.

Nevertheless, plot holes are already visible from the trailer, for example, Ciri drinking elixir and having cat's eyes (wtf??? she has never undergone mutations, her body will not withstand it physically). So you can see the attitude of new developers towards lore.

Ok I am going to pretend you are not trolling but you do realize the people working on this are NOT the same people from that worked on Witcher 3??? If not, now you do. The company is the same but they have had a soul swap with the dev talent.

I agreed its people who make great games not brands, Bioware means nothing these days, but they didnt just become garbage company in instant it was long road of wrong choices, if leading is strong, company can hire new talents and guide them to make something amazing or horrible if delusional people are in charge, Larian who made Baldurs Gate 3 clearly not same company that released Divine Divinity in 2002.

As long as people like this run company i see no reason to expect another Veilguard.

Well it is the Witcher 4, it's not the Witcher with another extra title beside it. To establish it as a completely different game. Like if they named it the Witcher A Path Anew. Then had it so could create own Witcher or Sorceress. To play out in that world. Although I do like Ciri I felt a strong and deep connection to her with Geralt.
I part me was actually hoping they would have brought her back as a playable character. Especially when only getting taste of her ability's in the Witcher 3.
Seemed like she also spent most of her life running, so she never even had much of a life. So can finally get a chance to experience one with her. With Geralt being on the side lines helping her adapt to her new life. As long as it has good writing like the rest of games should be a good game.

But after the years of woke crap and the lore and visual changes we saw in the trailer I lost hope for this game.
Why would they make her go through the mutations when she is already so powerful?
Why would Geralt and Yen even let her do that?
Who even did it since the methods were lost?
It's all so tiresome..
They’ll probably pull a, “somehow, Palpatine returned,” and wave it away by saying she used time travel or something to become a witcher. :Geralt:

I love the witcher games, and i love Ciri for that matter. She's a great character, who had interesting things about her, but at the end of the day she can never and will never be an actual witcher, just playing pretend.

i would have rather had a new story with new characters since the old characters stories are done and over with and it was nice and wrapped up in a neat little package. now we've got Ciri back as a macguffined witcher just because, even though
1. the trial wouldn't have been performed by any of the witchers, who all stated how against it they were.
2. Ciri would have most likely survived the trial, but would amount to what is a vegetable or severely crippled similar to avalach( an elf by the way who was severely altered beyond repair by the trial)
3. Ciri didn't need witcher powers as she already had her cool elderblood powers.
4. drinking the potions would destroy her insides or hurt her as she wouldn't be able to undergo the trial. She's simply too old by TW3:WH. the mutagens wouldn't take.

Now i have seen some criticisms i deem a bit unfair.
1. she's not ugly, she looks fine enough, not to mention its not like she looks like gorlock the destroyer, or the ♥♥♥♥ that happened to the chick from horizon. a big win for us is that she at least looks female.
2. she's clearly older and a different voice actress is fine, even though i prefer the last one.

i wont' buy it on launch, most likely get it on sale if it turns out good, but i don't think it will, too many changes that don't make sense will most likely leave it dead on arrival.

Tell us the real reason ya'll are so salty, its women. Just say you hate women.
We love Ciri. We love the lore. Both Ciri and the lore have been disrespected by making her a witcher. Simple as.

Knowledge of the Trial of Grasses has been lost. Only male children have ever undergone it, an adult, let alone a female, would probably not have as much chance surviving due to the intense physical and chemical changes. Youth in general have more robust physiology. Lastly, Ciri is already OP. She’s perfect as she was in 3, and it doesn’t make sense to nerf her by making her a witcher.
