Is it worth playing witcher 2 before witcher 3?
I have the entire series. I picked them up on sale but never played them. Witcher 1 was really boring so I never had a strong urge to play witcher 2 & 3. I am more of a cyberpunk fan. But now they have revamped 3, I am wondering if I miss anything if I just jump into 2 without playing 3?

how does having a witcher 2 save file affect the witcher 3? ive always wondered this as the witcher 3 simulates a witcher 2 save when i dont have one.

Its worth

You can totally skip the first two games, if you are not into the story.
If you are however, they are both totally worth it.

Personally hates W2 controls, and W3 is certainly the best of them all,... but storywise, they are all worth it.

Well you don't simulate it, it takes your real decisions from the savegame

No. It's a good game but unnecessary to play beforehand. I recommend everyone to go straight to W3.

Oh, and if you come back here saying you don't like W3 either, you need to get your head checked.

so it takes the decisions from the save file and then what? does it affect the story of witcher 3?

is this a situation where CDPR will remember that... like the taletell games?

I misunderstood.
It's mostly a few dialogues and interactions, nothing major.
However, depending onb whether or not you killed or spared TW2's final enemy, he will appear in a cool mission in 3 or not.

I played w2 last year while waiting for the w3 next gen and did not regret it.
Excellent game.

It's worth playing Witcher 1 and 2 before 3. But if you can't be bothered, I recommend watching these retrospectives .. Spoilers obviously, but they truly are the best Youtube has.

Witcher 2 is shorter than Witcher 3, and the storytelling feels better with characters having more dimension and depth rather than forgettable dummies from the boring slog that is W3. Combat in Witcher 2 has more "weight" in it too, doesn't feel arcadey clickfest like in Witcher 3.
