For the advancement of learning (spoilers) Keira Metz

Because I felt she used me, I was angry at Keira when she went back to the tower at Fyke Isle. I don't know what she wanted there, but I ended up killing her. I am now wondering: will this have a huge impact on the game later, like in the ending? I read somewhere that she will be helping later on if she is still alive... I'd be happy to know. And please don't spoil anything regarding later on, other than with vague answers. Thanks in advance :-)

In what kind of way, without revealing too much? Will I possibly get a bad ending without her? Will some of the other main characters die?
