Armor is an other matter, imo. Witcher system is completly anarchic. Real difference between light armor, medium and heavy is far to be obvious, unclear and perhaps close to inexistant.
I just look on the armor piece stat without care about it s classification.
I like my relics. Just gotta find the right one.
Some think like you, other not. It s like achievement some people dont care about it, some want it and need the 20 per cent to reach level 35 and get the achievement.
Overall Caz is right Witcher is more story line based. + Game is easy enough for you even prefere some sword or armour just because you find it good looking.
However I dont like too much incoherence. Especially about armour CDPR obviously not finished the work or did it badly. Happilly it dont ruin the game.
The only other swords I preferred to witcher gear had high levels of stun/stagger/freeze/dismember, and I would add stun and freeze gems to them. Fights are short and criticals frequent when one hit in three freezes/stuns.
I took the Cat school perk early, and wore cat gear and exclusively light gear pretty much the entire game.
This is still my main weapon at lvl 20^ I've tried some more options closer to my level but nothing has worked the way that does.
Certain monsters still seed the silver touch so I keep a bloodsword in my inventory just in case.
I wish there wasn't a restriction on what oils can go on what sword.. seems silly. It's a blade oil. There's no reason I can't slap some on that blade instead.
In fact. if there's a mod that will take that dumb restriction off (that I'm sure is just some kind of idiot buffer for those who actually can't tell what sword is what) I would like to know about it.
No, I don't feel it makes the game boring. There is a stretch between Witcher gear at certain points where another sword can come in handy. It makes sense that Witcher gear is the best gear. You are using the gear to do Witchers work after all.
I think the gear in the game is done well. You can use the Wticher gear...or just use other gear in the world. It is really up to you.
I'm thinking back to that time and honestly cant remember how I got those runes.
I know I spent a boat load of coin on schematics and recipes from Keira and a halfling herbalist in Novigrad.
There seems to be a lvl restriction on certain things you find but I remember my own surprise as I looted the first barrels on the path with Vesimir and found 2 dimiridium plate.. I never find those just lying around and yet I had 2 at level 1 o_0
A short exemple
bear cuirass lvl 2 you can wear at lvl 25 vs Griffon lvl 3 you can wear lvl 26. the first one is supposed to be an heavy one, the bear and weight 6.9 kg, the griffin which is a medium weight 20.8 kg.
Stat are about identical. 160 VS 165 AC, and bonus 10/10/10/20/30 vs 12/12/18/25.
Who can really said what is the difference between a medium and an heavy armour ? Point weight here is probably a dev mistake like some others exist.
System is imo blur, anarchic, and perfectible. It lack of credibility and it s only because the game is very good and not combat focused we can easilly forgive it. I would have prefere a better system, of course, with light armour and heavy armour with real différences, strengh and weakness, but we cant have something perfect I presume.
