Doing quest 'Master Armorers' BEFORE 'The Lord of Undvik'?
I was doing the master armorers quest and along my way, ran into a cutscene that involved a giant feeding harpies, quest item (nails), a dozen objects -- and people -- highlighted in red and a hut near a cave hiding wraiths up a hill?

What do these elements have in common? They were all from the 'The Lord of Undvik' quest which I hadn't even unlocked at the time.

Now i'm doing 'The Lord of Undvik' and it doesn't feel right... an objective won't go away (investiage a dozen dead men) as I already had before I had unlocked the quest, and the game is being pretty vague on what do to.

If I have to reload a save, i'm quitting lol.

I just don't understand why devs give players access to quests and clues we haven't unlocked yet? For eg, I've walked into a cave trying to do the witcher gear quest and it activated a contract I didn't even know existed yet. Makes no sense.

...but doesn't just just invite bugs? So many pathways undoubtedly lead to bugs, continuity errors, continuity errors in dialogue and so forth.

Bugs and issues may happen, but I feel the system adds to the authenticity of the world. For me, regarding that same scene with the giant I had recently begun playing without the minimap and rather than just "run to waypoint, trigger cut scene" it felt more like I actually happened across that event in the world. Several other instances of that happened for me throughout the game.

Okay, for me I get the 'what the--?' voice in my head as I don't recall any of my quests or conversations pertaining to the event.

Didn't encounter 1 bug related to this system yet. personnaly.
I think they managed this pretty well. in fact i know just one quest bugged related to this, in skellige, but so far all is ok.
Pretty amazing, eh? Especially all the pathways due to your decisions...very smart people behind the making of this game.

Well the giant doesn't give a rats behind what you have or haven't done, he's just trying to feed his harpies.

Because sometimes, to save time, rather than visiting a specific location two or three separate times, it's more efficient to simply go through once and take care of several things at once. In this case, you could be knocking off a couple of side quests while pushing foward a third and contributing to part of main quest later on.

It's the sort of thing that becomes second nature once you've run through the game a few times.

For now, just stick to the quest you've got active and don't worry about the rest.
I like to know what is going on though. Not find clues and trigger parts of a quest I don't even know exist yet.

:P Yeah but for it to be cutscene worthy, it's quest related. When I saw that cutscene, I had the mindset that I only see things that pertain to stuff i've triggered. Now I know I can activate quests without intending too, it's different.

for contracts and some chest hunting, it skips the parts where you have to talk to people and investigate a little or read a letter for exemple if you found the monsters place ot the chest.

But for main and secondary quests, you still have the control.

As i said , the game is like that.
Okay. Moving on, when I spoke to the guy in the wrecked ship (after cutscene), I had the option to give him nails but he also wants twine. I picked up the nails before I even knew they belonged to a quest....so...did i bug something or can i find the twine?

Giving him the materials really has no impact on anything.

...then why they add that in the game? It makes a scrupulous, gotta-search-every-corner type person go crazy :( lol

maybe it starts a quest but its bugged.

k, enough for me. good luck man.
Quest complete. Watched a walkthrough of it afterwards. Quest looked completely different to mine with another guy found with trolls. Guess I didn't see all that as I wasn't able to progress with that pathway. See you! Thanks.
