How To Kill Nightwraiths?

How do you kill the weaker ones before they heal the main one? I can kill them in one hit but they always heal the main one right before they die.

Back off and cross bow them. They drain your life when close so stay back

The alternate form of Yrden is great for this. Also Aard destroys them in one hit, so you can take out the whole group with Aard (haven't tried it with Igni).

Just run away out of their reach and they will disappear, not taking any of your health and thus not healing the wraith.

I'll try the other signs. I don't have Igni and Aard leveled up so I may need to get very close for them to take effect.

The crossbow I have is too weak. It does a little damage but the lesser nightwraiths heal themselves very quickly. My silver sword is too weak. I'll have to go back to the area when I have a better sword.
