Black Pearl

Just tried to do the black pearl quest and everytime I would go back to shore with the pearl neidas would instantly die from 4 drowners and the quest would then fail >.<

anybody else with the same issue?

Ive just ended up skipping the quest for now and will come back to it hopefully after another patch.

I had this issue tonight, funnily enough. First, save your game as soon as you resurface after finding the black pearl. This will save you a lot of frustration.

The drowners won't spawn until you're within a certain distance from the shore. Once you've saved, unequip your heavy armor if you have any on (seems to make you swim faster, though I could be imagining that) and book it to the shore by fast swimming. Hop out, and immediately axii/aard the drowner beating up your buddy.

Note that even doing all this, a fair amount of luck is required. It probably took me six tries before I managed to get up on the shore and kill the drowners before he croaked. Love the game, but this is not one of the better quest designs. Good luck!

Is it not a recent change cause I have done this quest and it worked fine the first time? Sure I sped my way to the shore to get the drowners but Neidas wasn't killed. Or maybe according to the difficulty level pnjs have more HPs?

issue is he dies before i even get out of the water. like his hp bar comes up and he gets hit once and it goes to 0 and he dies >.<

ive tried swimming away and coming from land and the samething happens doesnt matter how fast or slow i go about it the same thing happens.

only thing that is different sometimes the drowners are killable and other times they take 0damage everytime i hit them.

Neidas hp bar is now stuck on my screen even though im not doing that quest and reloaded and even restarted the game lol only goes away when im in a different world area.

What I did: Save before swimming out to the dive area, swim out. locate the correct shell with the black pearl, grab ONLY it, surface quickly and surface swim with speed boost to shore, and you should be able to save him.

Stop to pick up any other shells with white pearls in them and you will probably be too late to save him.

Hey found this post after facing the same issue. I found my own way around it, so i recorded it and did a commentary over it. ive found that if i get that close to the drowners and him fighting he gets killed. I have to be almost double the distance back in my game on pc lol

People are swimming out? A boat is the only chance you have of getting back in time.

if you read/watch the video you would see it doesnt matter how fast/slow we take to get back to shore he gets 1hit either way

No problems with my first playthrough, but bugged in second. The way I got round it was to swim out and get the black pearl before talking to Nidas on the bridge.

Thanks for the idea NurZirra they did not work for me.

He still dies from 1hit even in slow mode and i cant get close enough to throw a bomb without him dying

Swim down and get the pearl before talking to Nidas on the bridge. That way you'll have the pearl on you when he asks you to dive for it.

I gave up on this yesterday, no matter what I tried, he would get oneshot as soon as I got close. Frustrating as ♥♥♥♥, even lowered my difficulty, alas never lucky babyrage.
