Can I just use a steel sword?

So here's the issue. I wanna fight that:

That thing is lvl 20~ and silver sword is useless against it. Does nothing at all.
My steel sword would bring it down quick style but the gray haired ♥♥♥♥ won't let me use it for more than one hit before deciding he knows better and changes weapons.

They are out there.. I can't remember where exactly I found my one but I hope I run into another similar one soon as it's starting to reach it's expiry date against foes on my level with it's low dmg output.

Craftsmen always have a sword or armor fixed at one level. Out in the world they can be any level.

The leshen isn't even the hard part. He'll need the steel sword for the pack of level 20 wolves that will come at him when the Leshen get's to half health. LOL. Just leave the thing.

You are also missing the point.

Those special effects are based on health percentage (and innate weaknesses) where as your sword damage is entirely based off of your sword and respective stats.

draw your steel sword manually. What is the problem, you don't have the fight with the sword he initially draws. Just draw the steel one and go for it.

Your problem is that you jump on a thing that is level 20 when you are level 12. Hope this helps. Go away and get back when you are level 17-18 and upgrade your swords.

are you trying to kill the one by reardon manor? yeah don't do that at your current level and without super good swords.
also a steel sword would do like 1/8th amount of damage the silver one does, even if the damage was double on the steel sword because the monsters are weak to silver, not steel. ever fight monsters along side a regular person with a steel sword? it would take like 100 hits with that compared to like 10 hits with a silver sword
