Possession Quest Trick route is lame
In the quest Possession, you have to choose between tricking the Hym demon possessing the Jarl or just fighting the demon. I was really hoping for something interesting from the Trick route but it was the most obvious plan ever. How could Geralt not know that the baby would be safe? The only thing that he should feel guilty about is killing the Jarl's men for defending a baby. But he really did that so.. no trick.

What I was hoping for was a more complex trick. The only way I could see the trick working is if, say they were going to trick Geralt into thinking he did something bad, but make him think he was in on the plan to trick some one else.

For example, Cerys comes up with a plan to make Hjort (the old man) feel guilty and tells Geralt. Then she tells Hjort that they are really going to trick Geralt and do so. Or switch Cerys with Geralt and Geralt gets to choose during the quest which one really gets tricked. Either way, it would have been better.

Just wondering how others might feel about that quest.

I thought throwing the baby into the oven was hilarious.

But you're right about the supposed choices in the game. The secondary quest choices are really half assed and lame. For example when you take the curse off the guy because some herbalist loon lost her man she suddenly just disappears instead of any real conclusion to the quest.

What quest is this? I'm trying to think if I've done it. But there are too many Herbalists and too many curses.

In a village near where you first land in Skellige. Jealous herbalist curses a mans son and will only revoke the curse if he leaves his family for her.

The Nithing in Rannveig. It's on the notice board so you have probably done it.

I was kind of hoping the baby would burn up, population control on skellige. But then we all get disappointed sometimes.

I feel like it would involve some really complex convoluted plan in order for the trick to appear genuine. Not saying it's impossible though. I do feel the latter part of the quest was a tad rushed. The first encounter with the Hym (when grabbing the sword) was just plain spooky.

I agree. I was ready for a complex plan where everyone gets scared in the house with the Hym. Instead of the fight with the guards, there is more interaction, or at least cut scenes with the Hym as it tries to foil thier plan. Not necessarily a fight with it.

It would have been better since they did set it up like a demon possession. Maybe play off of the spookiness they had in the house earlier in the quest culminating in an Excorcist esque finale.

Imho the trick route was alright. Geralt waited for some hours, not knowing what she is up to and then she run in, give him a baby and tell him to throw it into the fire. In this moment Geralt think that the fire is a real threat and feels guilty.

I don't know how the baby survived this (teleport, fake fire, fake baby illusion, backdoor?)

Backdoor. You can see it in the other room.

The trick is simple, throw in a white baby, pull out a black baby - demon's fooled, now let's move on... =-))

Yeah I just finished this quest (I know holy thread necro) but this is annoying me too much actually. I killed a bunch of innocent guards who wanted to save a baby's life and then after the cutscene everyone is happy and the men I killed are instantly ignored/forgotten.

They could have just had the Jarl come into the haunted house alone without the guards.

I thought it was a good trick, honestly. Even though Geralt visibly shows shallow emotions, it was clear he was bothered by throwing the baby in the fire, and I felt really bad for him, but I knew it was just an act. RIP the innocent guards lol

People always point to the Baron's questline as being stellar and I agree but most of the rest of the game just pales by comparison.

I hope this isn't true because I was largely bored with the game until the Baron questline, then I thought okay now I understand why people like this game so much. I'm almost done with the Skellige arc and this whole time I thought okay maybe this is just filler but we will get back to the good stuff eventually.
