Imlerith and Sign Builds, how am i suppose to kill this guy? [/rant]
No seriously i get the tactic, dodge his attack hit him in the back, use igni to remove the ice shield. Ok the problem is... i'm a heavy sign build but apparently he's IMMUNE to all my sign damage? so all my runes...all my talents... everything i have invested in for 90% of the game is now useless? so what was the point of even letting us have a sign based spec in the first place if you were going to make it useless in the last half of the game?

Honestly i realize i can still beat the guy as a sign user but just feels like half my skills are now totally useless against him. Yarden does no damage worth a salt, he appears to either be immune to igni or take a seriously reduced damage from it. Aard does NOTHING at all...mind you this is with every rune boosting my sign damage and 3x greater blue mutagens...

So i am just expected to " deal " with a broken spec? all my armor, all my runes, all my time and effort building a fun character aaaaaaand main enemies of the game are immune to it? GREAT how about a little warning before end game...and it cant be fixed...
/rant off

Just really wanna finish the game at this point, and its super annoying that i cant do jack to this guy unless its with my sword... at very least, why couldn't we get a talent lets us channel igni into our sword? least then we'd have some kind of answer to melee characters have huge resistances like this.

Reminds me of WoW when i loved being a fire mage, and i got to molten core and WELP TO BAD BETTER REPSEC only in this case i literally can't i'm to far into the game to respec... and i think its just absurd that they made an entire spec pointless. (yes i realize igni is doing to much damage but making final enemies immune to it is a piss poor answer)

errggg at this point i'm, just tempted to go look last bit of the game up, or use console commands to respect, and rearmor myself because it feels like total bull...

Why instead of spending an hour ranting, don't you go buy a potion and reset your skills?

I beat him with a full sign build. Dodge and hit, never engage if you don't have Quen on. It's not that hard, just boring as ♥♥♥♥ doing it that way, I get what you're saying thought.

During the 1st phase, yrden turret will do good damage, slow him with the reguarl trap, time the lightning bolt hit, dash in with a heavy strike and then dodge back. during the 2nd phase, place your turret when he plant his club into the ground, then just run around turret while he try to catch up to you, rinse and repeat.

Just use some strong sword, it may take time, but you will kill him. Wild Hunt mobs are immune to much things, and honestly IMHO Imlerith is the most powerful boss in game :)

Use your swords + potions and mutages that raise your attacks. Just because you have a sign build doesn't mean you can't use your swords.
That wasnt the point of the thread, i beat him just fine, the point is is an entire spec in the game that becomes nigh useless when you hit the end stretch of the game. Quen aside...

Aard=doesnt work most of the time, the knock back is ok but harder enemies are immune
Igni= every one but the hounds are immune to it, you'd think an ice based enemy like this would be weak to igni...but nope! it does little to no damage.
Quen= remains only useful sign in these fights, but this goes for every spec pretty much.
Axii= unless you poured alot into it doesnt do much charm might be useful in larger fights i dont know i dont have points in axii aside from tier 1
Yarden: Can be useful if speced heavy into it, i hope this helps later as i respec'd to dump points into it as an alternative but vs this boss it only did 20 damage not enougth to matter....

The point i am driving home is that you do not create a spec that relies heavily on one facet of the game play IE magic, then make your end game enemies nigh on immune to that play style. Making 50-75% of the signs all but useless vs these enemies is very very very very poor balancing. Its not that i cant win, its just that i'm having to use a very weak sword, that has no runes in it for sword play since i am so heavily invested in magic.

It feels like i was punished in this fight for choosing magic over melee... that was my point.

Doesnt make a real impact, using thunderbolt to boost my attack power literally gives me 10-20 extra damage, unless you build specifically for melee your sword damage isn't all that great it is passable, but my friend has a combat build and i watched him kill a golem fairly quickly even though was a much higher level then he was. I on other hand spend 30 mins wailing on those things because magic just doesnt do much damage to them.

Case in point, immunity is annoying...and its really starting to ruin the game for me...
