Dodge is brokenly, laughably OP.
What the hell were CDP-R thinking? Despite the fact there's a 5-level skill (Fleet Footed) that incrementally reduces damage while dodging... the whole dodge is fully i-framed anyway, regardless of difficulty setting! And the lack of stamina cost makes it infinitely spammable, so it's basically a get-out-of-jail free card at every turn.

True, you don't *HAVE* to use it, but that kind of undermines the point of game balancing, doesn't it?

Anyone know if there's a mod to fix this glaring issue?

If anything, regular dodging sould remain the same and dodgeroll drain 10-25% stamina.
This is plastered all over the CDPR forums.

btw another suggestion was to have both drain a certain amount of stamina depending on the level of difficulty.

^I think that's probably the best approach. I'm not 100% sure but I'm betting the hitboxes are too big for it to not have any i-frames...

It's still really odd about that Fleet Footed skill though.... why did they leave it in when it literally does nothing at all?

Fleet footed was probably not coded at all, hitboxes are pretty broken, sometimes you avoid damage when you've basically should've been cut in halves, sometimes you get hit while the weapon flies a meter away from you.
I'd say the system should stay this way untill they fix fleetfooted and hitboxes first.

Another concept behind the stamina drain was to promote slotting stamina gain skills as many players don't even bother with them.

It's pretty simple to mod it, I made it so the dodge itself costs 5 stamina but also imposes a stamina regen delay. Makes spamming much less viable.

I can so far say that dodging is not at all spammable. The dodge itself does not grant invulnerability from the moment I press the key to the moment geralt stops moving.

I don't know what you are on about, but dodging is not spammable at all and it won't make you invincible.

Try it on the last brawling champion in novigrad, the rude elf, and you will see that spamming is not viable.
Nope, the dodge is fully i-framed.

Watch the combat info box for evidence.

It is true there's a microsecond where you're NOT invulnerable before you can dodge again (versus, say, vanilla Risen 3 where you can effectively chain dodge after dodge together), but you CAN parry during that time, making you, for all intents and purposes, completely invulnerable.

And Fleet Footed still is non-functional.

An ENTIRE 5-PART SKILL is completely non-functional. In a AAA game. After multiple patches.

Marinate with that.

I mean to be fair, so are FROM games, and those aren't laughably OP.

Yeah, too hard to spam, and the entire roll isn't bathed in iframes.

I don't really see the issue here. Not all games get hardcore balance changes to the point to where the entire combat system is altered. This isn't an MMO. Dodging works....it is supposed to work.

The confirmation bias is strong with this one.

You keep going on and on about i-frames.
There are none.

So while you keep going with your tinfoil hat crusade, to anyone that is interested, here's what is going on.

The skill he is referencing is not broken.
There are no i-frames.
What is happening is that the hitboxes are completely fubar.
They do not align anywhere near what is rendered.

When it seems you shrugged off damage from a hit that connected, thus appearing invulnerable, what really happened is that the blow connected with the render, but the hitbox was outside the strike. Thus, obviously, you take no damage.

I think the game is pretty well done, but the hitboxes are complete crap.

The hitboxes are indeed broken. Look these:

Imlerith mace clearly goes through Geralt:

Wraith was not even close to hit Geralt:

It isn't a multiplayer game. So why are you worried about hitboxes anyway?
