Actually I uninstalled the Kensington Slim trackball drivers my Winodws 10 installation defaulted to and installed the generic HID compliant mouse drivers and they worked. But the movement and smoothness of the mouse pointer really sucks with those drivers. They just feel diffeent regardless of how I adjust the mouse pointer speed. Guess its a driver problem.

I have the same problem on my new PC after upgrading to Windows 10. The mouse is a Kensington Expert Mouse. But I have another Expert Mouse with the Trackballwork driver and Windows 10 at office, and it works well. The only difference between these two computers is that my home PC has a Z170 motherboard and the PC at office has a Z97 motherboard. So maybe there is something wrong with the Trackballwork and Z170 drivers.

This might not be any help whatsoever but does enabling the "Hardware Cursor" in I believe the graphics options help at all?

Confirmed fix, thankyou very much :)

I"m having this exact problem now (on Win 8.1), but without the "Hardware Cursor" option fixing it.

I'd been playing Witcher 3 for a few weeks, then got busy IRL and haven't touched it in about 2 weeks.

Now when starting The Witcher 3... it's completely ignoring my trackball. Every other application (and Steam itself), has no issue with the trackball.

This is truly bizarre. The system was working fine 2 weeks ago, and now The Witcher is just not working properly without anything else having changed.

The Hardware cursor setting (either disabled, or enabled), makes no difference.

Any ideas?

Note - just verified the game files. It's not that either. :(

Found part of the problem, but not a solution.

If I uninstall Kensington TrackballWorks, then the default mouse driver gets applied... and The Witcher 3 sees the mouse.

Re-installing the TrackWorks drivers (needed, as I can't use standard button mappings)... and The Witcher 3 ignores it.

This is a bit of a problem. I can't seem to play the game any more now.

Anyone have ideas?

Official response from CD Projekt Red (via email):

So, there's literally no way I can play this game any more, as I *have* to use a trackball.

Well, that sucks. :(

I can also confirm that removing the Kensington drivers corrected the issue in game.
