No need to bother commenting if you aren't going to be helpful anyway.
It is possible to cheat using a save editor, but that doesn't mean you have to; what you use it for is up to each user.
I intent to change a quest phase for a Treasure Hunt called "Don't Play With The Gods", which has bugged - I said nothing about using it for cheating.
Besides, who cares if you can cheat?
It's not like anyone else would be affected by it, since it's a single player-only game. ^^
Well, I sure as hell didn't use the Debug console when my problem happened - it was a quest-breaking glitch, that made it unable to progress in the Treasure Hunt "Don't Play with the Gods"; had nothing to do with cheating or editing.
Hm, sounds odd...
Well, in worst case I guess you'll just have to make a new save file.
I know the feeling though - game-breaking bugs and glitches are the worst; usually saves don't matter when they eff up a quest.
But there is no savegame editor and there will never one. Also you can't change quest phases or the quest at all.
If you want a fix send a ticket to CDPR here http://en.cdprojektred.com/contact-support/
Follow the Guideline about bugs here http://en.cdprojektred.com/support/bug-reporting-guide and send them your savegame.
Thats the only way i know how you can make a bug report. Writing here or in the official Forum does nothing and if no one else ever send the report they will never fix it.
If youn are still in the Prologue then restart the game you lose nothing.
This thread is outdated by now; I have long since started a new game, and progressed past that point and quest.
It seems there was an universal problem with that quest - I remember googling it and finding lots of others having the same problem.
It mus thave been fixed in a patch sometime, because I finisished it flawlessly on my current playthrough.
You only see Value#XYZ and the value from it. If you don't know what Valiue #2 is you can screw your whole savegame
A year late, but just saw this and thought I would put my two cents in.
Never say never. There is a save editor out there. I don't know how much it can edit, but it does exist. You can't honestly say there will never be one. If a file is saved locally on your computer, it can be opened up and edited.
Yes, CDRP officially endorsed NMM. Of course, I had to reinstall my game completely because one mod screwed up my game and even using NMM to uninstall it wouldn't fix it, so NMM isn't really foolproof.
And finally, I have played the game several times through. After I play a game a few times, I like to blow through it for fun, maybe explore and see what I might have missed. I will often "cheat" on those run throughs to go faster as while I want to see what I might have missed or so something different, I am not wanting to invest 100 hours into the new playthrough.
And personally, I don't care if anyone approves of that. It is on my computer at my house on the game I legally purchased.
There is now at least one way to do this. For example it can be used if you've been a total melon like most of us and romanced both Triss and Yen, giving you the 'It Takes two to tango' quest.
Firstly you need to enable console commands. There are mods out there for this e.g https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1555/? but you don't actually need them. All you need to do is navigate to your directory which may be either:
GOG
1) C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG Galaxy\Games\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt GOTY\bin\config\base
STEAM
2)C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt GOTY\bin\config\base
And find the configuration file General.ini. Make a back-up somewhere in case something goes wrong(it shouldn't). Open it in a text editor and add a new line at the bottom. Enter exactly as follows:
DBGConsoleOn=true
Save and exit, then launch the game.
You need to open the console once you have loaded a save game you want to edit. Supposedly this is done with the tilde key(~) which is often just to the left of the number 1 on the keyboard. However, it could be a number of other keys and for me it was actually the single apostrophe button (', same key as @ on my qwerty keyboard). You may have to mess around a bit to find what it is for you.
Using console commands you can change quite a few properties. For example to choose your romance, even if you made other decisions:
removefact(q309_triss_lover)
removefact(q309_triss_stayed)
addfact(sq202_yen_girlfriend)
Be advised, in my case it wasn't sufficient to remove the triss_lover fact, I also had to remove the triss_stayed fact. Of course, you can reserve these. Press enter with all commands given.
If you can work out the commands it should be possible to change a range of other facts.
Also, you can investigate whether the code numbers above, i.e 309 and 202 equate to the values you want to change at http://www.saveeditonline.com. You could find the Value number and change it from 1 to 2 and see what happens (not tried myself).
I'm a little late but I think you can help me, I want to finish the game with yen but I ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Triss. Using the command you quoted '' removefact (q309_triss_lover)
removefact (q309_triss_stayed) '' how do I know if it worked?
It does. I just finished the main game after switching multiple times. It works perfectly. You can even get romance scenes with both of them (not together) at different times and not get caught for "cheating".
This method can be used for MANY things in TW3 using the fact commands (like fixing decisions and broken quest). This link is a txt file with all of the facts. I do not take credit for finding this, I got the link from another forum.
