Any quests I must do before heading up for Skellige?
I'm already level 17, and the recommended level to sail there is 16. So can I go off there? Any must do quests first, anything disappear once I reach there?

None that I'm aware of, you can travel freely once you unlock a signpost

I'd recommend you to not be in a hurry to sail towards skellige. Take your time to explore Velen/Novigrad and try to find all places of power (hability points are always needed).

I'm lvl 20 and still haven't headed to skellige and still have a lot to do in Novigrad/Velen (and i'm still doing low level quests)

I dont want to be in a hurry as well, but I heard there are quests taht aren't that high of a level in Skellige too, and if you can use signposts to fast travel back any time whats the harm in going there? im just afraid some quests are undoable once you go to skellige

I've beaten the game twice, now i'm on my third run and can't remember any quest that fails once you get to skellige. It's true that at a certain point in the main quest sends you to a place in skellige and past that, many missions fail. But before that happens the game itself warns you of that and forces you to do a manual save.

It's true that 2 or 3 low lvl quests send you to skellige, but loosing a bit of XP shouldn't worry you. Most quests there are lvl 16+

One of that quests has to do with Lambert. Altough the level showed is 16, the quest itself is pretty tough, because at an certain point you have to fight an whole village full of pirates. The pirates themselves are not that high leveled, but there are a lot of them.

Anyway - It does not hurt to wait an while before doing that quest.

The other quest has something to do with master Armor making. You will pass the point for that quest, while doing another quest connected to Skellige. It does not hurt also to wait an while before doing that master Armor quest.

Not entirely correct
You can go to the main entrance and talk with 2 guards, with the correct dialogues they'll tell you where you need to go without fighting
It's easy to miss because many people approach the village by sea, making the pirates immediately hostile
