Master Mirror's Reward for New Game Plus
I know that most people agree that in the end of the Hearts of Stone expansion, saving Olgierd is the best ending and in turn, they dub the Iris steel sword and the Venomous Viper Silver Sword the best rewards. But if one is playing New Game Plus, those are not the best rewards since you can get the legendary and leveled version of these weapons in the NG+. So in that case, it would be best to let Gaunter O'Dimm win in the base game, and accept one of his rewards to aid Geralt on his quest in New Game Plus. Of course I'm ruling out the 5000 crowns, asking about Ciri, or wanting nothing. The rewards I am referring to is the Caparison of Lament, Horn of Plenty, or Bottomless Carafe. Which one would you pick for New Game Plus?

Caparison of Lament: The horse saddle with the highest stamina and gives Roach the ability to stun enemies. This reward will definitely be useful to help Geralt travel all over the map in New Game Plus without enemies getting in his way. Geralt will have a very easy time winning races too . Also, it makes Roach look epic and Geralt riding on Roach looking epic too. This saddle does suit a Witcher way better than those tacky and loud saddles from Toussaint as Geralt is not a gallant knight from a fairy-tale. Although none of the horse saddlebags match the texture of this saddle. In a lore perspective, one can argue that this saddle may actually draw too much attention to Geralt and anyone else who uses it after him. This is the time period where magic is becoming an abomination, and a saddle like that can frighten locals, alert witch hunters, and pretty much cause trouble to both the horse and the saddle's owner. Especially if they are not capable of defending themselves like the White Wolf or the Child of the Elder Blood.

Horn of Plenty: A consumable food item that does not leave the inventory when consumed. If one is playing on Death March where meditation does not heal, Geralt can replenish his health outside of battle without having to use up other food or potions. Even more so, Geralt can also keep it in his consumable slot during battle so he can keep regenerating health without running out of food. The Horn of Plenty does have lower health regeneration than regular food. That makes sense since this cornucopia only contains fruits, vegetables, and nuts instead of all the other good stuff. Also the Horn of Plenty can be lost if Geralt gives food to an NPC so be careful. In a lore perspective, Geralt will not have to worry about going hungry, but he'll always have the need for coin. But it is certain that this reward can't be misused for evil and can solve the hunger crisis for hundreds of years. Although many greedy folk wouldn't mind taking lives in order to possess such an item. And it would be hard to keep this item's power a secret since folk don't usually carry a ancient Greek horn around with them.

Bottomless Carafe: A carafe that contains an infinite supply of strong alcohol that replaces the alcohest/dwarven spirits every time Geralt meditates. This reward is useful in New Game Plus to alchemy players who ultilize bombs and potions in each fight. With this reward, Geralt will never have to steal and scrounge for strong alcohol again. Any remaining Alcohest and Dwarven Spirits can be sold for more money to buy Legendary Grandmaster Gear in NG+ and unlock services from the Runewright. And just like the Horn of Plenty, the Bottomless Carafe will also ensure no losses of resources when the player needs to heal on Death March difficulty. In a lore perspective, this reward would have many great uses. Even Master Mirror is pleased and delighted if Geralt wishes for this. Vodka is not just used to drinking. For Witchers, the Bottomless Carafe will provide them with the base ingredient that is needed for most of their potions and alchemy ingredients. Vodka can also be used for healing purposes such as medicines and cleansing wounds. And the last great trait of this reward is that it looks like a small and ordinary container. Even Geralt wasn't impressed with its appearance. That means it will not draw as much attention as the other two rewards. This gives the user to keep the power of endless vodka a secret for many generations. This is my favorite reward from Master Mirror. The only downside I can think of is if it lands in the hands of an alcoholic or a fool who spills this highly flammable substance and sets a house on fire.

So which one of these rewards do you find the most fitting to take to New Game Plus? Unless you prefer the 5000 crowns.

You made some effort with your comment, and some has to acknowledge that instead answering with just an one-liner. :)

To be honest, the only things which would be worth to carry over into a NG+ run, are the Aerondight sword (although its too overpowered) and a grandmaster set to use the bonus for NG+.(still need to craft a new set, if you want updated values). You could also take over some enchanting from the HoS expansion, but well get to that later.
Every other thing is replaceable, when its about functionality.

1. Gonna admit, that the new looks of Roach look really neat. Other than that, you dont need the full stamina. Its not that you have to escape trough the entire map to get rid of enemies. A "normal" saddle which you can win in races will do just fine.

2. There are more than enough ways to replenish health, for example some Decotions which give you health when you use a sign or do some damage to enemies.
And when its about food, you could use the Gourmet skill, which might be the most overpowered low level skill in this game.
Or you could use the "Dumplings" rune enchantment, which will turn all your food into pierogis and give you 100% more vitality.
These skills alone do make the "Horn of Plenty" redundant.

3. Maybe the most usless option, cause you'll never run out of alcohol. Even if you refuse to loot in this game, you'll find more than enough alcohol to refill your stuff.
Its also not worth it to sell alcohest dwarven spirits, since they're almost worth nothing.
Besides all these things, an endless bottle of Vodka is not not the baddest thing which might happen to you. ;) *wink *wink

edit : To get back to your final question, I dont think that any of O'Dimms rewards are worth it, except for the first one, when you put value on optics. Zombie Roach is rly something.

My discussion post or my reply to your comment? Heh heh sadly I put effort into both! XD

I know they're not good. But the thing is, I usually start New Game Plus at level 100. And since Olgierd's sword is only level 40, I'll be at a disadvantage in New Game Plus when every enemy is level 105. That's why I made this discussion post. To decide on a different reward that is more useful. Or more accurately, less useless. Because I will save Olgierd in New Game Plus and get his sword which will be level 100.

If I were going to play again, I'd take the saddle. It's kind of neat. Everything else is just... meh. Including the sword.

You make a good point on all of those. The demon saddle is just a cosmetic. A normal saddle is just fine. I like the mastercrafted saddle better myself. I do replenish enough health with Placation and mending glyphs, and I get quite enough alcohol. So it appears that each of these "rewards" are only good for a roleplay perspective. And if I'm going THAT route, then saving Olgierd is still the best choice.
