Golem Hearts

Having reached level 38 and completed the main story, I have yet to find a single golem heart, needed for the Blizzard and Enhanced Blizzard potions. I have killed a number of golems in story quests and in the world but none has dropped a heart for me (even with some saving / reloading). In fact, most of them don't seem to drop anything at all. Does anyone have any suggestions for where to look for one?

(Contrary to some sources, elementals and gargoyles don't seem to drop golem hearts. Gargoyles sometimes drop gargoyle hearts, and elementals drop elemental essence.)

I had the same problem, later on golems were simply unlootable. newgame+ had no issue with them though but I never made superior blizzard before that (

Did you do the Tower out of Nowhere quest in Skellige? If not, head to An Skellig.

Also check the ?'s directly to the northeast of Novigrad in the sandy area by the water. Theres a drowner nest and a cave that has a golem in it. Golem hearts are a pain though, along with troll livers, nekker hearts and nekker warrior liivers.

Thanks both. Unfortunately, I have done Tower out of Nowhere, and found the cave northeast of Novigrad (on the coast). Neither golem dropped anything at all, even with several reloads. Even more annoyingly, the golem in the Novigrad cave doesn't seem to respawn, even though it's not connected to any quest.

Although they were a pain, I did eventually find enough nekker hearts, cave troll livers, and dark essence by exploring the open world.

Come to think of it, I am also missing several Superior Oil recipes. But I suppose if I ever get around to looting every single chest in the game, I'm bound to come across them eventually :)
