[Edit]I just checked and no, turning that on did not trigger the tutorial the next time I played.
Also from the main menu there is a "Tutorials" section that has an extensive text tutorial on the game.
It took me a while to learn the best strategies of how to play Gwent. And you have to get into the habit of playing with everyone you meet whose dialog offers the option to win their cards. But it's cool once you build a good hand.
But I have to say, don't dismiss it without giving it a fair shake. I was the same as you. I only forced myself to play it and do the Gwent-related quests just to say I had. And strangely now it's one of my favorite parts of the game
Which ones?
If I didn't need to in order to unlock certain quests I'd never play this stupid fncking card game.
The passiflora quest is a quest to play gwent that you pick up on a notice board. You don't have to play gwent to get it.
Haha. The baron is nothing. Wait until you play that lady in the Passiflora tournament. Her deck is insane. Try setting the Gwent difficulty to highest level. It's brutal. Remember though, you can use decoy and "nurse" type cards to play the very spy cards that the opponent uses on you. Use their strength against them. It's kind of like Gwent Judo
Also, early on in the game, anybody playing Monsters tends to destroy me.
Outside of the tournaments, you can play people over and over and over again. Eventually you can build up an awesome deck. Some of the most important hero cards (e.g. Geralt, Ciri, and Mysterious Elf) are the easiest ones to win.
I always save the Gwent tournaments for last. I play northern Realms and I make sure I have plenty of spy cards and decoys.
I don't think so. I admit I could be mistaken but even in my very first playthrough of the game where I barely played any Gwent at all, that quest came up for me.
