Can Teigr be upgraded? Or should I wait when I'm higher level? *Spoilers*

As you may already know, the reward for sparing the other witcher's life in "Where the Cat & Wolf Play" quest is an awesome steel sword (Teigr) located in his hideout.
I was wondering that since the the requirement for the sword scales of your own level, wouldn't it be better to do the quest once you're a higher level. Or is it possible to upgrade it? If not. Shouldn't I wait until I have become a higher level in order to exploit it's amazing stats and damage. I'm 24 right now and I know that If I obtain it now, I will eventually have to replace it sooner or later.

Maybe you can try getting a higher-lvl one with console? Like with those random rare items that spawn in chests all the time? I mean, you can get a low lvl one, and then high lvl one with a console. I', using it to 'upgrade' Oathbreaker armor from time to time.

P.S. It's a rewards regardless of your decision apperently. I've killed that crazy cat, and looted his corpse for a sword.

We might be talking about a different items. For what I've heard, killing him and looting his corpse has much worst rewards (the sword is not the same [Not Teigr]). Teigr is the one you obtain from a chest in his hideout and the sword is consistently higher or the same level as you are.

Ok, maybe. Still, you can try using console to spawn different version, and see what lvl it'll be. Afaik you can't upgrade anything except for witcher school gear (Not the viper). So it's doubtfull.
