BUG: The Griffin from the Highlands
It seems like i can't begin this contract since i've completed the Master Armorer quest. During that quest, i found an archgriffin somewhere else and now i can't even begin it. The area where the griffin is is empty. Nothing.

You don't need to begin the quest. You've already completed it by slaying the archgriffin.. Just talk to the quartermaster, he is next to the master armorer guys.

Strange then, cannot help you. Don't know what the issue could be.

Could be because the Griffin and Archgriffin trophies are the same and might have sold the Archgriffins ...

Yeah, that is also true. Wanted to just edit my post and point that out ...

I have the exact same bug, did anyone manage to fix it?

You can't complete it because the internal flags are as confused as you are. It's the way the game was coded. Said it before, I'll say it again. For all of its claims of open-worldness, if you do insist on playing the game out-of-sequence insofar as how the game expects you to, you can screw it to hell and back because it expects something that then becomes utterly impossible.

Logically you'd think, why should it matter if I have this item now instead of later or that I found it regardless of the situation -- but the game is programmed to look for you actually doing what it tells you to do and not to improvise.

When you don't, the game gets stuck in a loop of trying to see if certain conditions were met, say, killing that archgriffin and getting the acid AFTER Yoana asks you to do so. Getting it beforehand or from another source creates another loop and the archgriffin can no longer be triggered because she doesn't tell you about it. See what I mean?

But that's all part of the glory of playing the fabulous and best Game of the Year, right? Of course it is.

Oh and there is no way to fix it. The game just will not proceed along those lines since you went ahead and created your own path for the acid and completed the quest. Next time, do what the Journal tells you to do. It's basically linear as hell and does not like it when you veer off course.
Hey look. Its one of those "Well it's your fault you stupid f**k" When you're saying "Said it before, I'll say it again." its like you think everyone dwells within the steam forums to look at everyones problems. Sorry mate but we have games to play rather than being a douche.

Well it is your fault, stupid. Sorry but I'm just calling it like it is. And it's also CDPR's fault but NO ONE likes it when I say that. That contract only exists so that the player can complete the Master Armorer quest. If you complete the quest before doing the contract, it will be glitched. Not bugged. Glitched. There is a difference.

And what is that difference? The coding. Yeah, here I go again. Look away now if it offends you or go play some game, whatever your tiny mind feels is best at the moment.

The code expects you to speak with an NPC, unlock a quest and *gasp* follow the tasks outlined in the Journal. You know, normal RPG stuff.

But the CDPR devs/idiots created an open world, you say. Yes, yes they did. And they encourage you to explore and find things for yourself without being guided by hand. How sweet of them, no?

Actually, no. Because the game is still linear as f uck. It expects you to do things as they have coded it. Internal flags look for these elements (have you spoken to this NPC, have you found that item, did you follow instructions like a good little boy) and when it sees that you have, you are rewarded with a nice green tick mark next to your task in your Journal and the quest eventually completes.

But, when you go exploring (tsk, tsk, tsk!) and do things in an order the game does not anticipate, the internal flags get confused. They don't have a clue what happened. All they know is that you found the acid and completed the quest. Hooray! But now that contract that was put there just so little ol' you could get that acid is now in No Man's Land -- literally. The internal flags cannot trigger the contract to become active nor will it spawn the Archgriffin since his only purpose in the game was to provide you with his head as a trophy and some acid for that quest.

See how the nice devs at CDPR can find brand new ways to screw up their own game at every turn? Yes, truly a Game of the Year title.

So yeah, I have said this so many times before and lucky you that you missed them all but have no worries. I wrote it all again -- just for you.

Enjoy reading.
I will give this ego a 4/10. Not enough ego. Maybe next time.

Turns out I just had to complete the Master Armorers quest for anyone still looking for an answer. It wasn't a bug after all.

I was having a bug as well, one in which I killed the griffin but for some reason he fell through the ground before i could loot him, in turn i wasnt able to recieve the trophy i needed. I was still able to recieve credit for finishing the quest by enabling the developers console and adding the trophy by entering this command ( additem,sq108_griffin_trophy,1,1). You might be able to do the same if you add the console and spawn a griffin that way, or you may just be able to add the trophy and get credit for the mission like i did. Hope this helps

I know I'm years late to this but why not. I had the exact same problem, I didn't even notice the quest until I finished the Master Armorer's quest. Well I looked at the board and took all the letters from it (exept the last one because it didn't intrest me). I didn't think much of it, but the quest just sitting there bugged me, so I came back to the quest board and found a letter about the contract. I then just needed to show the throphy to the quartermaster and the quest was completed. I play on PS4, by the way.

@BuzzardBee - Bugger off mate and settle the ♥♥♥♥ down a bit. You spend a lot time assuring yourself your right about things don't you? Okay - that's off my chest. Seriously though, you and the others make good points, but you're all way the ♥♥♥♥ off on this one.

Problem: The board is full of contracts etc., and has no room for the new contract (The Griffin from the Highlands) and does not refresh to include it once the conditions are met (completing the Master Armorers quest in this example) until there's room on the board for it.

Solution: Just take one of the contracts down, walk away or wait, then come back to the board. The quest should be there now. Just take it off the board, walk over the quartermaster, finish quest. Done and done.

I know, I know, but when you feel compelled to respond it's hard not to. Who cares if he sees it or not, I feel better anyway. LoL. Cheers!
