Skills and Skill points?
Hey guys, I'm a litttle confused here. I'm at level 33 and have an available skill point. However, when I go to my character tree, there are 4 sections, allowing 3 skills and 1 mutagen in each tree. I've maxed out everything In all my 4 trees and still have remaining points. And I assume I'll have more points as I continue to level up. My question is - What do I do with these points? Is it possible to use more skills? Otherwise, I don't see the point. Please clarify

Theres more than just the skills you use with mutagens. There are also skills that do not need to be placed in the bars. They automatically work. And I doubt you have maxed out your skills where as some of them don't even unlock until you almost cap out on your level. A lot of the skills have 3 or 4 more times to be upgraded, so with each upgrade your sign/ fighting skill/ etc will intensify. So even though you have all the sections filled up, your skills can still be upgraded. You just have to replace the weaker skills with the stronger ones.

Ok, i didn't mean "Maxed out all my skills" I mean, of the ones I've chosen to put in my bars, those are all maxed out. Which ones don't need to be in your bars? I'm a spellsword, so now I'm wondering what doesn't need to be in a bar to work..

Yeah, what skills do not need to be slotted in order to work?

I think he's referring to a bug that has been patched, which allowed certain skills to remain active even when not in your skill list. Such as Aard sweep, I found this after a quick google search. But still.. this system doesn't make sense to me. "Swap these with stronger skills" but every skill is different so why would you bother? There's no "stronger skills" just different ones that unlock later? Unless im mistaken.

Nope your right Batchman, a skill does nothing unless it is slotted. ATM you tend to make out your build 30-40, depending on a couple of things. I kind of thought they would of added another line/tree for you to put skills into with the expansion, but seeing they didn't they are going to have to put another 2 in for next one.

So none of the character skills work unless you put them into the mutagen slots?

yep, not even the per point passive effect (ie the stam regen or potion length)

The point is to unlock advanced skills in multiple trees and being able to swap them depending on the enemy
It can be useful in NG+, I have over 20 skills fully upgraded and if I have an hard time I can take off the unneeded skills for something else (e.g. I have no use for lvl.5 Igni on a boss, I'll put on an alchemy skill that will actually help me survive)

that sucks, so basically you can only have 12 skills active at a single time?

Yes.

Unless you install a mod to add more skill slots, the limit is 12 skills.
