How the F*** do you beat the toad prince?
This boss is ridiculously hard, harder than anything else in this game by far. Any tips on how to make this fight a bit simpler on death march? Builds, poisons, etc.

EDIT:
I just beat it by speccing into igni melt armor and quen shield bubble. The melt armor igni actually does quite a lot of damage if you hit him with a quick burst and then a sword attack, then when he throws all the poison on the ground you can use bubble quen to walk into it and regen health rapidly. Using this tactic I beat him in about 2 minutes.

I just used Northern Wind on him. I didn't really have any problems with him at all.

i used the shield power. I then used fire power. My best swrod and armor. It did take a while

Really? Both northern wind and igni don't seem to do anything to him for me.

Golden Oriole is your friend. The toad gets physically trapped in Yrden. Two free attacks as he fights to break free.

use advanced golden oriel so poison heals you and just stick and move. I am playing on Death march and it took a long time but was by no means difficult.

I feel you, death march NG+, this thing is by far the hardest boss of the game (till now)
Those quick jumps are annoying the crap out of me, I get killed in 3 hits and it looks like I'll need 50 or more to kill it
It also breaks the sh** out of my quen

Pop Yrden and roll to kite the toad in it. Yrden traps him locked into place for a 2 attack window. As the toad indeed breaks Quen, it's pointless to waste stamina casting it. Use Yrden instead.

I know, but that stays quite hard, as soon as I get close that thing jumps and takes a good chunk of my life, half of the yrdens just miss because of that. Plus my build is adrenaline-centric, I never ever used signs in this playthrough and now I'm forced to revisit the whole thing
Thank god for golden oriel, if I had to deal with poison too... I can't even imagine that

Yeah, you know how it is with games that have 'freedom', devs like to show off everything that they included so there will be bosses that need a cookie-cutter build you didn't pick.

I played enough Dark Souls to believe what you're saying

It's certainly doable with a pure combat build, but I'll need a lot more familiarity with its patterns, it might be faster to adapt myself

Oh, any idea what oil, if any, is effective here?
I have something like 5 oil specific skills equipped, if that's useless I'll just throw some different buffs in there

It sure is. I'm on a full combat-build too. Though I wished that I had buffed Yrden a bit. But that's actually something I noticed before. Yrden is quite helpful.

I burned him alive using igni. He could actually get burning status.. But I had like 270+ intensity + 100% burning igni upgrade.Maybe it helped.
