Payback Quest bug issue

At this main quest I have a problem finding the key (which should be on table, next to the stable door).

To be more precise, the mission is about stealing horses from the cottage.

If any of you is familiar with this issue, and managed to find out the way to solve it, I would appreciate some suggestions. :)

I ran into this and couldn't find key either. And like you said it should be on the table next to the stable door. So I decided to load the save right before and choose not to steal the horses. I was then able to complete The Payback quest. Just not in the way I wanted to.

I have done the same, good that there are more choices.

I have the same problem. I can examine the key on the table but it doesn't go into my inventory so I can't unlock the door. After a bunch of searching the following console command solution worked for me.

additem('q310_backdoor_key")
