How to get rid of the Chort in White Orchard?
So, I had heard about the cow protecting beast Chort before playing the game, and now that I had started, obviously one of the first things I did was kill cows to summon him for the goofs and gaffes. I simply ran away instead of dying, and continued with the game.

Unfortunately, he never despawns, under any circumstance, and prevents me from doing things in this area of town. Usually if I sprint in I can talk to the merchant before he comes too close, I can also get into the Tavern in time, so I just decided to work around him and be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ at how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ this was.

But now, my game is legitimately broken because of this ♥♥♥♥er and I don't know what I can do about it. I did all the other parts in the Griffin Hunt, but now I need to talk to Vezemir, and he stands outside now. Anytime I come close to him, the Chort is also in range, and Vezemir sprints off to try to kill him. I cannot reach him in time to start a conversation before Chort forces him to ignore everything and pointlessly attack. I cannot find any way to get rid of him anywhere, and really want to know if there is any way to just get rid of him (I know killing him, something I could never do at level 3, will only spawn a new one)

UPDATE: I managed to fast travel to the town, sprint and vault a fence into the tavern area, and managed to talk to him before the ever alluring call of the Chort beckoned him in. I still need him gone though, as I have no idea how many more times I need to do critical things here

Well after finishing talking to Vezemir, it seems that the Chort has disappeared. My guess is that it will return when I come back, but at least I'm probably done with it

Actually I've pretty much done everything else possible around White Orchard lol, I'm that guy who accomplishes every single side thing before the main story

Wait until you explore most part of velen and skellige xD Unless you want to get to the main quests like 30 levels higher than normal, you won't be able to do everything else before continuing.
White Orchard is nothing compared to those other 2 maps, i think everyone fully completed it.

Yeah, I saw videos of some late game guy just absolutely farming the ♥♥♥♥ out of these respawning guys, and I've now moved on from WO anyway. I'll probably come back and kill him in sixty hours or so...

This is a ton of BS. I wouldn't have killed a whopping 6 cows if I knew it would basically break my game. What a stupid, stupid way of dealing with an "exploit" of killing cows.

It was an exploit though. I don't know why you are trying to imply it wasn't one since it was both well known and commonly used enough that CDPR wanted to deal with it. I would also say, imo, that the way they dealt with it was fun rather than just plain stupid. It was more fun and interesting than either making cow meat worthless or not allowing the player to kill cows at all.

It doesn't break the game at all. It was meant to discourage players from farming the cows. However later in the game when you are higher leveled you can go back and farm the chort which is even dumber but that's what the geniuses at CDPR came up with a solution.

Stop noobs from farming cow hides and milk and let the more experienced players farm all the mutagens and monster parts forever.
By the time you could actually start using the new exploit, it will be end game (unless you have dlcs) and you won't really need more mutagens.

Number 1 I'm not a kid. Number 2 I don't read forums/cheats/tips etc when I get a game. I heard it was good. I bought it. Was cool until I got destroyed by Chort. I say it's stupid solution because a new player has no idea this can happen. Here's an idea. DON'T LET THE COWS IN THE FIRST TOWN DROP ANYTHING.

there're myriad ways to fix it like gremlin could appear and steal hides from you or money whatever. it's good fix as it accomplishes what it's supposed to. it also suggests to players early on how devs don't encourage their game to be played. if they dont like it they simply can steer clear of cdpr in future :P

I am just now replaying Witcher 3 (after first time for Witcher 2) and just encountered Chort for the first time. I did not understand it.. I do think it was 6 cows.. killed em coming and going on hunts.. and bamm he appears. Its more funny than annoying... I figured I could work around him.

You actually know it would come. There are even books about this in the game, countless contracts, Leshens comes when you cut too many trees, Chort/fiends come when you kill too many animals. There was two contracts about this in the first game and second game too, with the woodcutter dwarfs and elven bandits.

I've just played the first and second games, and don't remember anything about getting contracts for killing too many ambient creatures.

I do think that it being hard capped at 6 cows in WO is a bit dumb, as it is easy to kill that many without trying to exploit anything. Hell I have got more crowns from picking herbs than from selling raw meat (1c/ea) and cows milk (2c/ea) from 6 cows.

I had heard, and seen video, of the Chort but I had no idea that the number of cows was so damn low! I thought it would come if you killed the cows and then meditated, not if you killed them in passing a few times.

Couldnt find the names of the quests, do not remember them. But in first game, there was this group of dwarf lumberjacks in the swamp area, they got in trouble because they cut too many trees. Do not remember the creature they put contract on, but this was a quest, your memory should be more fresh than mine, you will remember.

Also there was a group of rebel elves(will not even try to write that name correctly, you get it) got in trouble because they were either mining in a cave too much and get in trouble with nekkers(?) or it was something like that. Excessive damage or harvest to/of something natural, causing the 'guardians' of some sort to emerge in both scenarios.

There are lots of other quests too, not just these two. I just dont remember all of them, pardon my memory.

So the dwarves in the Swamp Forest in TW1 Chapter 2, who had problems with the vodianoi water people, and pissed off the druids? And in TW2 I think you're talking about the mine in Velen where a greedy dwarf mined too deep and awoke rotfiends and a bullvore (I was expecting a fire demon but w/e)
