Crash to desktop in "Broken Flowers" Quest - can't get past Dandelion's planner convo

My game is crashing every time I start the Broken Flowers quest when I find Dandelion's planner. I get two conversation options but whichever I choose the game immediately crashes to desktop. I tried reverting to an earlier save, doing a bunch of other stuff and coming back to the quest - same thing. Also tried rebooting the machine - same thing. Also tried lowering the resolution and graphics settings to really darn sad - same problem. Since this is a main quest line it's not exactly trivial that I can't get past this point.

How can I go about troubleshooting what the problem is / get past it, and/or has anyone else had this problem?

I am running Windows 7 and have not had any other problems aside from about 1/4 of the sound bytes being missing and not playing but I have 32 hours in the game and this is a huge let down. I have the DLC but NO mods whatsoever.

I'm having the same problem but the only conversation thats crashing me is the one with molly so ive done all the others but now i cant finish it

hey i contacted the pc support team for witcher 3 and this is what they told me to do and it worked like a charm for me

As you're playing on Steam, try verifying integrity of game cache:
1. From the Library section, right-click on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and select Properties from the menu.
2. Select the "Local files" tab and click the "Verify integrity of game cache..." button.
3. Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.
