if you are playing with rtx on you may need to lower some settings like background character and shadows to high. turn off NVIDIA hair before you load in. u can turn on again after loading. since you didn't mention your CPU & resolution if you are playing without rtx u can max all settings including NVIDIA hair.

your profile says you played for 5 hours. so what changed?

check windows event viewer and also windows reliability history
might be a game crash event or system related errors.

unclear whether the "redlauncher" is crashing or the game itself.

bypass the "red launcher - go to the steam game folder then the bin folder
run witcher3.exe in the x64 folder for dx11
run witcher3.exe in the x64_dx12 folder for dx12
do either work?

does new game work?

Guys, we have to admit that CDPR dont have enough skill to make high-quality product. I have almost the same problem since 2022 when they added this new big update with RT, DLSS etc. Game was kinda stable only with disabled RT and Hairworks - and it was still crushing (but at least not that often wher RT was enabled) on my 5700x@3080@win10.

Worst beta-version experience ever. Geralt is stuck on Skellige forever thanks to that patch.

Try turning off Nvidia Hairworks. Fixed it for me!

have this problem since v4.0 update release - on Lemovo Legoon Go. every about 30-60min.

Please fix the resolution of 1600*900 in DX 12 as soon as possible, this is the problem I couldn't solve!!! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3138446923

If you're using the launcher, disable it. If you're using Nvidia Hairworks, disable in in the Options menu. Both those things have been pointed to as the cause of many freezes and crashes.

this game doesn't utilise CPU properly. looks like you are Cpu limited at 1080p with 4070. also game looks blurry in 1080p. since you play on 60hz might as well cap at 60fps there's no benefit you get for those extra frames maybe some lower latency idk not really worth it. I've 3700x, 3070, 16gb playing with this settings everything max rtx off ultra+ except background character - high. 1080p + (2.25x DLDSR nvidia settings, 30-50% smoothness depends how much sharpness u like) and change in game resolution same as nvidia settings and enjoy much clear crisp image quality. if you really care about those fps number use FSR 3 or frame gen. 60 is enough for games like witcher 3 unless u have high refresh monitor and want that smoothness.

My 4070, 64 GB, Ryzen 7 5800X System is working fine with the game on win11 "alles geil". Maybe win10 does not support the actual hardware.
