Rose of The Red Field... WTF
Well... I found the one quest I will never do again; Rose of The Red Field.

To summarize my experience:
  • The quest started out pretty simple: find a murdered guy's body, follow tracks to bad guys, kill bad guys. SIMPLE!

  • I tracked down to what I thought were the bad guys, really tough group or red knights that hit like a truck, beat them and was proud. I then found more evidence that led me to a mineshaft. Cutscene then takes place where im then surrounded by 10 - 12 of these hardened baddies that then repeatedly two shot me to death time and time again (thats right, all it would take were two hits and id be dead... when im 3 levels above the recommended level....)

  • I then load back a bit, go to town to get some armor piercing, damage, and sign runes to put on Wolf (a weapon that already has 90+ armor piercing), still needed to hack 15 - 20 times to kill 1 bad guy.

So let me get this straight:

  1. I'm surrounded by overpowered juggernauts.

  2. Crossbowmen are up on the rafters

  3. Armor piercing is pointless, along with most melee attacks.

  4. Fire and bombs are your only useful attacks.

  5. AND THE QUEST IS ONLY WORTH 200 CROWNS ARE YOU SERIOUS!!??

Someone post a comment or video on how you delt with this utter garbage mission. But i'm never touching that one again in any other playthough.

Did it first try on death march. You just suck.

proof or gtfo

Also, if you did, actually explain how you did it so flawlessly instead of making an ass out of yourself.

This was difficult to endure. You tell us you will never touch again this quest, and want us to seek videos for you??? Do you want to spoil our time? Are you too lazy? If you would have - instead of bathing us in your lachrymosity - copied the questname and paste it into the search mask at youtube, you would have been more careful blaming the quest as "utter garbage mission". Perhaps. I'm not sure. Perhaps you would have tried to find the cause of your issues elsewhere - beginning at the hand on the mouse, following the way forearm, upper arm upwards ...

It took a couple tries but Igni and Dancing Star + moving into the area on the RHS of the wooden walkway you cross just before entering the lab area. If you keep moving you avoid the bolts, and can lure groups in/close to the flammable gas then dive-roll away and toss a Dancing Star at them. The trick was to get positioned where they couldn't surround me then use Igni when they approached to deal damage and weaken their armour before finishing them with swordplay.

Doing this one at night under the influence of superior Tawny Owl would be a good idea.

Well that's a better way of doing it than me. I had to run up to everyone with a crossbow and kill them quickly; then i got up on the rafters and continually used Igni, crossbow bolts, and bombs to kill them. This took my multiple attempts to pull this off. It ended in me paying more in repair and supply costs than the quest actually payed.

I just did that mission on Death March yea it was tough. tried like 4-5 times but thanks to ♥♥♥♥♥ load of bombs i got it eventually. The funny thing is after i killed them all i realized there is a gas leak back at the enterance, i think i could lead all of them in there and give em hell. i was going to try that but i was too lazy to do so. I think they knew it was kinda tough and placed that gas leak.
btw what was your level? you werent underleveled for that when you were doing right? i did it when i was 36 level.

Did that mission at level 36 as well. Ran a Sign and Sword skill combination to try to beat these guys. Had Enhanced Wolf Armor, Wolf Sword, and 6 bombs (mix of flash, shot, and poison bombs). Has anyone tried a method that limits the combat to near 1 on 1 face offs?
