Where is a good location to benchmark my pc ?
I'm thinking about buying this game, but i want to test how far my pc can handle the game.
Is there any location accessible from the beginning of the game, where it is really demanding the best of your pc ?

My advice, don't even try on anything less than a 900 series card from nVidia.

Isn't HD 7870 enough ? I found some youtuber posted their video on how good enough it works.
But they are only benchmarking on the world map where the texture are usually repeated, i'm guessing big city or place with complex building and crowded npc will drop a lot of fps.

Know one accessible from the beginning ?

My HD 6850 (3DMark 2,200 or so) already ok @ 1920x1080 with automatic settings (didn't tweak a thing). Compared to that your HD 7870 should be king (3DMark 4,300 roughly). I didn't measure FPS.

Now if you wanted everything on max...

I prefer the game to be on steady high framerate on every location rather than maxed graphics but sacrificing fps. I don't mind playing it on low just to get higher and steady fps.

Btw, i have a request if you don't mind it. Can you please post your complete spec ? So i can at least gauge my pc's competency.

A lot of people seem to have issues in Novigrad. Perhaps because of the density of NPCs roaming about. I'd run a test there and possibly somewhere in Skellige as well since some people have problems there too with crashes and such.

Good luck.

Thanks, will go there soon to test.

Mine's quite old and inexpensive with most investment in GPU: 1GB Radeon HD 6850, Phenom II X4 840, 12 GB RAM, 7200 rpm harddisk, Win7 64-bit. I don't care for measuring FPS but I had no obvious visual problems playing this game (meaning it was enjoyable). It likes to slow down for short while when you fast travel to Novigrad Hierarch square and you move while it autosaves there but that's all. So I'd test on that square.

EDIT: did some estimates and FPS probably around 20. With your HD 7870 should be around 40. It'd matter lot for twitch shooter but in TW3 even at my low FPS combat etc perfectly doable.

Might be doable if youre used to low FPS but for me for example having less than 40fps in any game at all causes headache

Looks like I'm lucky then. Only stupid head bobbing effect in some shooters like Half-Life makes me dizzy but otherwise all's fine for me.

I'm just not an AMD fan. I don't what AMD models compare with which nVidia models.
