CRASHING EVERYTIME

i finished the game before then i wanted to start a new game and it was going really fine .. then i was doing a contract and since then the game crashing in loading screen .. i tried another save game and even starting a new game but still crashes every time in the opening cinematic plssss help
also note i have both tried DX 11 and 12 and i have updated my gpu and i don't use rtx

maybe your graphics settings files are corrupt. go to folder
Documents\The WItcher 3
delete (or rename or move somewhere else) all the .settings files
in case the opening cinematic file is corrupt, steam verify game files.
try game again

ty but i did that as well and still nothing happens

check windows event viewer and also windows reliability history. might be a game crash event or system related errors.

run the witcher3.exe from the dx11 and dx12 game folders. an error msg sometimes appears not hidden by steam.

if it is not your settings or the game, maybe either windows or your graphics card driver

if you cannot find any error msgs, you can always add this to your steam launch options
"--launcher-skip"

I couldn't get the next gen version working either without frequent crashes. The classic version runs just fine without any issues.

PC specs:

Ryzen 7 5800X3D
32GBs DDR4 3200mhz
RTX 3080
1TB Samsung Evo 970 nvme
Windows 10 pro 22H2
Latest Nvidia driver
NO mods installed, pure vanilla.

Any others in the same boat as me, if you want to play without crashes, just right click the game in your library, go to properties => betas and select the classic version.

I was having the same issue until I tried taking it out of full screen and using windowed. Hasn't crashed since.

What worked for me was turning ray tracing off. Believe me I couldn't play a minute without it crashing with that mode on. As soon as I turned it off, it worked perfectly.

I turnt off Nvidia Hairworks, and my game stopped crashing on Dx11 and Dx12.
