World of Aen Elle (minor spoilers?)
So in the game they mention that the world of Aen Elle is dying, hence the whole plot. I didn't get what exactly was the problem though, was it ever revealed elsewhere? Was it White Frost? Global warming? Unicorns?

The White Frost. It is threatening their world. They know they are unable to stop it, hence why they want to invade and conquer Geralt's world. What you see mostly are projections, specters, not the actual Red Riders themselves since that would be too unwiedly for their navigators to handle. Which is why they desparately want to get their hands on Ciri. With her, they believe they will be able to transport tens of thousands of their warriors here and begin their invasion.
Thanks for the answer. Though I'm pretty sure the Red Riders that are seen in the game are actual Red Riders, seeing as they spill blood when you cut them and you kill named Red Riders over the course of the game, and everyone agrees they are dead

On a separate note, I suppose that (ending spoilers begin) in a really roundabout way, The Wild Hunt succeeded in the objective of saving their race by prompting Ciri to stop the White Frost

But did she stop it entirely, or only from destroying her world?

We don't know.

Well she travelled to another world to stop it, so I don't know how she could have possibly saved only her own world specifically, I mean, it's not like she could tell the White Frost what it was called and ask it nicely to stop, or protect worlds in a certain region of space, because she wouldn't know what direction it is. Seems more logical to assume that she destroyed/bound/imprisoned White Frost altogether

She could have deflected it's path through space to miss her world.

Like I said, we just don't know.

SPOILERS below!!!

During the loadscreen of the last save game you can hear Dandellion telling that Ciri does have the power to stop the White Frost, not only at her world but the one affecting all worlds. Ciri did saved all worlds with her power according to Dandellion

Perhaps Eredin did wanted Ciri powers to stop the White Frost but also to use her powers to his own evil gain. The destructive power of the White Frost exists only at the game, having a much less impact according to the books (did not readed the books, took a look at some forum posts).

In the novel's canon, the White Frost is never stopped, it swallows Geralt's world eventually. And, yet again, in line with the novels, The Aen Elle do not want to conquer Geralt's world as a new home, they want to take the Aen Seidhe from Geralt's world back into their homeland and save them from the White Frost. According to Avallac'h, they'd even be willing to save humans. The games really twist this around and kind of leave the entire Aen Elle plot aside.
