[Spoilers regarding new Next Gen quest] In the Eternal Fire's Shadow

What did you guys think of this quest?

I happened upon it yesterday, not knowing there even was a new quest.


And the priest was talking about some evil spirit, and I was honestly thinking, "Ok, it will just be another of what I've already encountered a million times. A leshen, wraith, hym, or something... nothing new here. Don't get too excited..."

Because I love the mystery of exploring new things, unfamiliar entities; strange, atmospheric locations... but I am now on my 3rd playthrough. I have seen everything, every monster. There is nothing new.


But the priest's little speech did have me intrigued. And then the cave... oh my god. Just drenched in foreboding, morbid atmosphere. Of course, this was helped by the strange purple glow of the Greater Yrden glyphs (which I had not seen before); and the weird warping that calls for the use of Keira's lamp; and the plague victims; and the dungeony/prisony feel of the place; and those areas where plague victims had been walled in...

And then I met the boss. At first I thought it was just going to be the possessed witcher, but then out came the Red Miasmal and I wet myself.

Ok it is just a reskinned Leshen. But Leshens are my favourite monster, and it was beautifully reskinned, and the lore behind it is fantastic... I loved it.

The entire quest had my brain, mind, imagination buzzing with wonder...

I really liked it as well - had a good story, and lots of creepy atmosphere in the cave. Lots to find and explore, and there were the letters you could read to give you the full picture and understand better how to fight it. Though the first time I stumbled across it, I was not high enough level and I was killed repeatedly... So I came back later and redid it after leveling up, and it was much more manageable. If I recall the suggested level seemed way low compared to how actually difficult it was.

I just got to Velen and am level 4 I think? On Death March this time. It's too difficult for me right now, and I'm going to come back. I ran upon it in the first 5 minutes of hitting Velen. Oops.
