1. Go to your Steam Library.
2. Right-click on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and select Properties.
3. Go to BETAS and select CLASSIC - the game will update automatically.

Now they destroying classic version with their so called free next gen update, too. Been playing flawlessly till some crap update recently. The game just won't launch at all.

CLASSIC!!! The latest, so called "upgrade" was actually a down-grade. I went from full graphics and running perfectly fine, to low graphics, running like a bag of dung - I guess intelligent idiots run the show now? I have had a lot of hours enjoying this game and now it's, well, broke :steamsad: - That is "possibly" until now - I thank you Wodecki :steamhappy: I will try this out and if it works, YOU deserve a reward !!

I'd suggest you to wait still before upgrading to next gen, until they polish it up .

I am currently playing on the next gen and it is somewhat unstable for me. Not that it is very game breaking or anything, but occasionally the water breaks and the game soon crashes. Sometimes it only happens in textures and once I could not dive but after exiting water and entering it again it fixed itself. I've had only one annoying bug when during the fight I could not for the love of God cast the basic Yrden, only the full charge one which was horrible, but I managed :winter2019sadyul: Also, sometimes there is a bit of a lag if you start running but it goes away. Otherwise, the game runs pretty well for me and the graphics became much better for me but I do admit that the update is yet unstable. I thankfully did not experience any horrible accidents as some people have )like the save files getting deleted, etc... ) but I still think the best idea is to wait it out for now

I'm still running 4.03 with mods. Except Novigrad where I sometimes dip to about 48 fps, I'm getting solid 60 fps everywhere else. No RT as I'm running it on a several year old gaming laptop with a RTX2070, but everything (except for npc populations which I've dialed down to Ultra) is set to as high as possible.

It's been just as stable as the "classic" and noticeably impressively prettier.

The bits of new content and minimal quest edits in places are damned cool, too.

4. Choose Direct X 11 (It wouldn't work until I did so)
5. Started a completely new game as I had no completed game saves -

Lovin' it without the glitches of the updated version and lovin' starting fresh, looking great and playing great :steamhappy: - One of the glitches happened whilst running, I would run 3 steps and it would pause for a split second, then run again - I could no longer complete the Ciri, Crones mission as Ciri was uncontrollable, not to mention the attack delay, In fact, all responses lagged badly - For me the game was butchered, you may get away with it if you're seriously high spec' but even many of those players are having issues

I can't Thank you enough Wodecki, you get the Golden Unicorn Award

depends on your specs, the next gen version is nowhere near as bad as people make out imo.

I playu at 1440p max settings with RT on with a 5800x3d / 3080 and its bascially a solid 60fps other than some specific areas, but 49fps is fine with a controller.

Well, that switch from classic to next gen obviously broke the game for me from playable to impossible as the frame rate dropped into the basement. I never thought twice about having automatic updates on Steam on, now I do.

I don't know my exact setup, it's low end for sure, but I could play just fine until I restarted the game half a year later knowing nothing about these "upgrades" which were downgrades. Have been searching for a solution now since, I hope this is one.

My PC has great specs and runs TW3 just fine framerate-wise, but I still experience frequent crashes whereas the old version never crashed for me.

Normally I can tolerate the occasional crash, but it crashed 4 times for me just going through White Orchard. Looking around on the internet, I am clearly not the only one still experiencing these issues, and I very much doubt the problem is on my end.

If you have a good PC use next-gen - It looks amazing.

Sure, I want to, but it crashes rather often as I mentioned above. It runs fine for me other than that.

agree dx11 on win10 g270z mb i77700k cpu gtx1080ti ive been on 4k 60fps highest settings native no vsync (why do they calll the new dx12 e core rt cards nextgen when they need upscaling fsr dlss etc not to mention they have lowered the gfx quality and made it latency problematic due to the cpu multitasking workloads then sending the data, a good gaming setup should have the vram on the gfx card doing the work and in real time like we all did on gtx cards. but calling them next gen ha ha THATS A DOWNGRADE IN MY BOOK)

Classic is much better. More stable, more performance, more mods available for it, no netflix crap, no annoying devil's pit quest, no quest/gameplay bugs, foliage moves dynamically with Geralt and animals, and no HBAO+ flickering in cutscenes. There is nothing next-gen about 4.0
