At ultra setting dlss on quality 60 fps at novigrad ? :D dreams, maybe at 1080p
Like OP, I too would like to be able to roll back to 4.01. They should at least give us the option.

So the command out of the Steam Console basically goes
Which on its own seems simple. Until you realize there's at least 20 depots you likely need to account for if you ignore those that aren't for your games local language. And you have to dig in to each of those depots to get the manifest ID for the 4.01 Patch.
https://steamdb.info/patchnotes/10442422/
And downloading those packages is only the start. Afterwards you have to move them manually to the game folder. And I suspect it likely ends with you always playing in Offline mode since the game will likely insist on Updating if you try to launch it in online mode (but I'm not completely sure on that last point).
Sadly GOG version has the ability to easily rollback but for Steam you can only easily select between the current version and classic versions if you don't wish to go the Steam Console route.
Exactly correct. And yeah, basically no crashes for me until this patch - now I can't progress the game past cutscenes. Hotfix needed ASAP.
Fun Facts While We Hopefully Wait For News Of A Hotfix For This Update
MWGA -- pronounced Muah-Gah -- *muah* like a grandma giving a big sloppy kiss hello and then *gah!* as in "...wasn't the game already great in the first place? I always thought so :'( gahhhh !!!"
Fun Fact:
2015 - Witcher 3: Wild Hunt --GOTY !! *YaY* !! *WooHoo* !!
2023 - Witcher 3: Wild Hunt --Broken. :( ...*sniff*
(Positive Helpful Fact Check Sent From the Future: If it ain't broke don't fix it!) Old school can still be cool! :) Seriously, just trying to make us smile in these tough times of trials and tribulations (what we know as updates and hotfixes) - No worries, ease up everyone -- it'll work out! (...2077) Awe, couldn't resist that opportunity! :D Great game for sure!!!!!!
Have have fun in your spare time as we wait for another hotfix! As a matter of fact, I see there's some good sales going on in the store. :) Might as well as you might have to wait for the next Witcher 3 fix to outdo all previous fixes and updates since December 14th, 2022's highly aniticipated releasing of the original Next-Gen Update!! YaY! Seriously! Couldn't wait, and even though honestly I am still waiting, I am still so excited! :))) Next-Gen Don't Debate, Appreciate!
I love, love, LOVE <3 CDPR's never gonna give up attitude! Don't you get it? They are steady set to keep on trying and even when it turns out having to make some things worse first, just to eventually make it better in the end for us supporters and hardcore fans!! They'll get it right and never let us fans down!! :D :D :D BLIEVE!
In conclusion, like OP and another, I am definitely down to rolling back to 4.01 :) Too many reported crashes to use this current new update and other issues, some here say even Dx11 issues. For now, just know that they've done a great thing and made the original classic mode available for those who aren't choosy about RT and the other next-gen things (in properties, beta - it'll reset back to the 1.32 classic version), that's so great! :D (Oh but check around as I've seen in these discussions people might lose their saves from next gen back to classic, I don't know for sure, just some I've read on here.)
Best things in life are worth the wait :D :D yep...
Let's Make Witcher3 Great Again :D !!! GOTY Again in 2023!
