FPS drop after new update
After the new update my FPS keep crashing down to 40 FPS, always played with all on ultra+ (ultra on grass and rtx off) at 1440p with locked 75 FPS (vsync on), now becomes unplayable in cities.

MSI RTX 3060 Ti

Pretty sure it's not a hardware fault, just having this problem after the update. But i read it somewhere that people are getting better performance, does anyone have performance problems after the update?

they just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ this game up with the patch. sorry. they should stop patching and revert this whole ♥♥♥♥. game unplayable now. no matter how good your system is: 13900k 4090.

My FPS went down too plus I got a stutter problem in a game that was extremely smooth to play..

with RT on or off? i found myne runs really well now at 1440p everything maxed out but RT off, if i turn on RT i get stutters and major fps loss

with RT. but 4090 should handle RT.

I did play on DX11 because in DX11 my RTX 3060Ti keeps temperature mostly under 70 degree celsius and consume 100-150 Wats. Now the DX11 is same as DX12, that is 75-80 degree celsius and 150-200 Wats. The fans go over 2000 RPM which is quite noisy. And i do have the FPS drops now too.

Somehow patch 4.02 has made the game even more CPU bound on directx 11, making the GPU unable to reach it's full utilisation, despite my pc setup being considerably beefy (and expensive). In Novigrad, I saw the framerates fluctuate depending on what I was viewing the camera with and major stuttering after entering/exiting interiors that don't resolve unless restarting the game. The mentality of patches with 1 step forward and 2 steps back is becoming tiresome at this point with CDPR.

dx12 with raytracing off seems to run about as good as before. ran and looked like ♥♥♥♥ when i first loaded it up but then i just let GeForce Experience optimize the settings and it set everything to dx12 ultra+ but with raytracing off. kind of stupid since the entire point of the update was to add raytracing but it looks like its broken for most people.

Question??
Been playing w3 on my pc and at 1080p max settings rt off i had 100fps and suddenly i get 25-40fps and i just dont get why?

Can it be the nvidia driver update?? its the only change i can think of so far..
I played this game on my older gtx1650 also n had better fps(almost)

hardware:
Rtx3060 12gb
I5 12400F
16Gb 3200Mhz
Windows 11 home

Nvidia driver at the moment is-555.85 (i had to back driver due to other games woulnt launch at all) So if i go back to new update 560.94 will this perhaps work?
But if this might be the issue my other games wont run at all i play at the moment(so is there something else that can be done??)

Thanks(just so wierd jumping into W3-Blood n Wine and get 25fps suddenly)....aaargh

There are way too many unoptimized games out there, Witcher 3 has been unoptimized since Day 1 and continues to be so. I still haven't finished this game because CD Project Red refuses to make the game run correctly IMO. Maxing everything out and the game still looks like a 8 year old game, yes its impressive graphically but when youre adding GPU load for the sake of it its not a good thing IMO.

I'm running a 4080 and with only ray traced reflections and hair works on and the game set on Ultra (not Ultra+) and DLSS I'm barely getting 60 FPS @ 4K. I also noticed with raytracing and hairworks the rest of the options barely affect my performance as well, NVIDIA's technologies even on their own flagship cards are so trash that they just destroy performance for the whole game, to put in perspective the difference for me between Ultra+ and Medium with raytracing on and reflection raytracing is about 4 - 8 FPS, it's so insignificant because of the huge demand of the Nvidia's raytracing/hairworks. Why does Nvidia release graphics technologies that two, three generations later their flagship cards still can't run?

So still waiting on the graphics card that comes out that can play this game natively maxed out at 4K/120Hz because that card is apparently another two, three generations from now? Like I don't see the 5090 being able to do that either, and who knows maybe the next cards will stop supporting hairworks lol so no graphics card in history will ever be able to actually play this game maxed out, is that what CD Project Red's goal was? To have an unplayable game when you max it out graphically? Awesome you did it, too bad the art direction is ass and games like Shadow Of Mordor ended up impressing me more because I actually played them and they looked nice.

Sorry for the rant...this ♥♥♥♥ pissed me off the other day and my wife made me stop yelling about it so I'm letting out the frustration here.
4k is very high for such a detailed game, and hair works is the biggest ♥♥♥♥ on this planet. you lose 25% fps or more for nearly nothing. it is not important. the game is good optimized for what it looks. but you need a good cpu and gpu, which makes sense. for me the game was always fine. it could just crash back a while, but this is already fixed long time ago. the game is very optimized, same as cyberpunk. you share wrong informations. you never played a "real" unoptimized game. you don't know what unoptimized is. it is a full stuterfest, with many memory leaks or engine bad coded, where nobody can play it smooth. no matter what system. the witcher 3 runs flawless on an high end system. it is very good optimized. for new hardware. even midrange should run it fine. just not low budget.
