Game crashes every single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time. [Solved]
Whenever I load a save after the "posession" quest in Skellige, the game crashes in the middle of loading. I tried running it on DX11, verifying game files, reinstalling the game, updating drivers, NOTHING works. Ray tracing is automatically off on my PC. I tried disabling all mods, game still crashes.
any ideas how to fix this??

Edit: Removing lighting mod from Mods folder worked

How well does your system run the game? Are you overclocking at all? You need to give more info so we can help. Try closing some background apps that might conflict with the game like nvidia geforce experience.

try going to My Documents>The Witcher 3 and moving dx12user.settings and user.settings out of that folder temporarily, delete the files in the folder if they remain after the move. The game will remake the files the next time you start it up, or verify the files, setting default values that should be appropriate for your system. I can't say that it'll 100% work as I was having a similar issue but mine was fixed with a complete reinstall of the game. Good luck to you.

Since you play with mods, disabling them and loading the same save file will not solve the issue; if anything it will make it worse.

Installing and removing mods mid game is always a risky endeavour at best.

Start a new game and see if the game works fine. If it does your save was most likely corrupted and you’ll need to ditch it.

Gra zawiesza się na etapie wczytywania scenerii Wyzimy . ( gra nie odpowiada )

check your mods. Never encountered this issue. Most likely mods that you use cause the game to crash. I had a similar instance with better torches causing crashes in a quest where you TP to Wild Hunt's origin world. Idk why it happens but it does.

Performance isn't a problem at all. I'm thinking it's more of an issue with the save files being broken or smth

Yeahh I was thinking I should just make a new save and start over since nothing's working lol. Kind of a shame but oh well

Yeah making a new save without mods is probably my best option right now lol

I had this same problem in Skellege , in my case and several others on Nexus it was caused by a lighting mod. When I disabled it my saves would load. You said you disabled all your mods, but I'd experiment with disabling some starting with any lighting mods and go to the latest save before completing the quest, and try running thru the quest again and see if that doesn't fix your problem.

I'm not sure but I think it might also have to do with how you resolve the quest. possibly changing scripts in a new way in the NG ver. that the mod authors didn't account for.

It appears both the possession quest and her brothers Ice Giant quest can start causing modded saves to crash after completion.

Letting her throw the baby in the oven, and saving her brothers two buddies in his quest might also save your file.

Ok, turns out I was being kinda stupid about this: "Disabling" mods in Vortex didn't do anything, and all I had to do was manually remove the game-breaking lighting mod from my Mods folder. Lol sorry for troubling you guys with this

Lmao. I just got a warning from a mod for "spam" making fun of people complaining alllllllll the time. And this is just resolved after the op saying oopsie. Carry on mods

I've done some testing and if your interested in running a lighting mod "Better Vanilla Lighting Changes" and "Grim Lighting" work... all the other "Next Gen" one's crash the game upon loading after a certain point in the games story in Skellige
